Article in the Guardian. As much as the whole this is concerning the bit that jumps out at me is ‘men will always rape women’,

Oh? That’s ok then. Let’s not bother trying to change or prevent it then, let’s just make it a bloody free for all. Crack on men, rape away 🙄

OK so this has officially enraged me. In my grandmothers village in sub-saharan Africa those villagers who can't afford a toilet go to either the women's erosion gully or the men's to do their business. And woe betide if you get it wrong. The point is that everywhere and in all time periods women and men have segregated themselves for privacy, dignity and protection. I just can't understand how people like this Ruth Hunt can think its ok NOT to segregate on sex in the UK but probably mixes with those trendy people who DO support it in 'less developed' countries. Is there something special about the West whereby all its men are only the nice kind? No. If the rape and assault rates are lower here than in some other parts of the world, this is because women have achieved greater protections under the law and in practice. When those protections are broken down - wherever in the world and for whatever reason - women suffer.

Great post, Mammelo.

DpWm · 19/05/2019 17:28

There is big money in removing women's rights.
Get over it.

Absolutely.

Reasonstobeearful · 19/05/2019 18:29

Thing is, with that sentence she actually says the truth. But then spends the rest of the article refusing to acknowledge it. But she says it, so she knows it's correct. Headdesk.

Dervel · 19/05/2019 18:46

Things that will also happen:
• Theft
• Murder
• Wars
• Pollution
• Fraud
• Cancer
Should we all stop bothering about those too?

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 19/05/2019 21:20

I hope she faces the full understanding of this one day and that it burns her inside.

I doubt she will though, she seems to be spectacularly unpleasant and self-centred. Those types never seem to suffer the burden of thinking or consciences.

Perhaps David Icke isn't quite as bonkers as we though? Maybe his theory about a ruling class of lizard people was just his way of trying to make sense of how some people are completely cold hearted and lacking in empathy, and those are the people who rise to the top in all power structures?

I confess I haven't read his stuff, so I'm only guessing based on things other people have written about him. But having seen the way GC ideas are misrepresented in the media I can't help wondering if his ideas are being filtered through the same distorting lens?

I have no plans to visit his website and plough through his videos and articles. Men do love to blather on, at my age I just can't be arsed listening to them.

Some people can be so incredibly cruel, it seems the suffering of others does not bother them at all. They know exactly what they are doing, but they just don't care. People like Ruth throwing lesbians and women under the bus for her own career advancement, and all those politicians gladly parroting the TWAW mantra and ignoring distressed constituents begging for their help in protecting single sex spaces.

They look like ordinary humans, they pass as human, but they are mystifyingly lacking in human empathy. The idea that they are really cold blooded lizard aliens disguised in human form works as a very satisfying metaphor.

“Men are always going to rape women."

She gives zero fucks about women doesn't she? So utterly contemptuous and dismissive about women's suffering.

SalmonAndBroccoliForTea · 19/05/2019 22:56

There are a lot of concerns raised about Stonewall on here.

Have any complaints been submitted to the Charities Commision?

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 19/05/2019 23:02

‘Men will always rape women’

  • which is why it’s important that they are kept out of spaces where women are changing/sleeping/recovering from sexual or domestic violence/in prison

She makes a great argument for keeping women only spaces

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 19/05/2019 23:04

stealthsquirrelnutkin they do say that Psychopaths either become serial killers or leaders of industry. It’s easy to see how a lack of moral scruples and indifference to other people’s suffering could be beneficial if you want to get ahead in business....

LightsInOtherPeoplesHouses · 20/05/2019 14:07

When someone says they’re gay, we don’t go: ‘Well, have you done anything gay? How gay?’”

Errr, bi people get that a lot

It’s to do with where we are as a society now – which is increased polarisation, falling away from the centre

In any discussion involving TRAs that I've seen they are actively encouraging that. Calm, coherent points are met with abuse and name calling.

DrG · 20/05/2019 14:36

Thanks for contributing to the polarization of society Hunt.

I think you'll find that Stonewall's radical TRA agenda which sought to suppress debate, which advocated to have (probably gay) children drugged and sliced to fit into retrograde sexist stereotypes of what it is to be male or female, goes a VERY long way to pitting those who give two fucks about children's and women's rights against those who support your confused and lost male sexual rights movement.

You wont be forgotten quickly.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 20/05/2019 16:02

Men are always going to rape women.

So lets make this easier, rather than do everything possible to stop it Hmm

Ugh, shes awful, really awful. Just does not care about women one bit. Many many things will always happen but we try to avoid them as much as possible. Like, some people will have accidents crossing the road, so why bother with crossings? Its just such a stupid view, but I am not surprised, most of the nonsense she comes out with is just daft.

DarkAtEndOfTunnel · 20/05/2019 17:17

So let's encourage them by telling them that it's all perfectly ok and legitimate for them to do that?

If this is what our august leaders really think of women, then why should women support them? We need an alternative - we need to set up that crone island.

VickyEadie · 20/05/2019 17:23

I'm only surprised Hunt didn't resort to the tried and trusted 'So you're saying all transwomen are rapists, then?' line I've seen so often in this issue.

That she singularly fails to see or admit that it's about women's rights to safety and privacy - and that predatory men are predatory men and they'll use any means available to predate - shows her up for the cynical TRA mercenary she's become.

NellieEllie · 20/05/2019 17:44

That leaped out at me too. “Men will always rape women”. Presumably her argument continues... “so let’s make it easy for them, and open up whole new opportunities...”. Just vile.
