Thought this might be of interest. Link to the news story here

Female to male transgender prisoner in a female prison attacks a guard. Does this show some double standards, m to f transitioning prisoners go into women's prisons don't they?

I believe that female to male transitioners are still placed in women's prisons because the risk to them in male prisons is recognised.

We know that males are more likely to commit violence . . . . .

CuriousaboutSamphire · 14/05/2019 09:29

Odd as it clearly explains

HMP Foston is a female prison, but Neake is transitioning from female to male and was referred to as “he” throughout the court proceedings. that is never done when the transition is the other way round.

And it does show that women can be violent too... so TRAs will be happy with that!

I pity the poor guard though. Sounds bloody terrifying and totally unpredictable - feeding ducks!!!! caused this!

Is this person on hormones? The Swedish study showed an elevated risk of violence in women who transition. Presumably due to the testosterone?

I disagree with the entire premise of transgenderism, it's the height of enough to then try and catch me out with its effects as a gotcha.

(I'm not suggesting that's you Lexilooo)

FTM are put in female prisons, which is fair enough because they are female. They won't put them in male prisons -well let's just say MoJ do know that males are more violent and commit the majority of sexual assaults and all rapes.

Going along the prison within prison set up transmen should be in units in womens prisons and TW in units in mens prisons. That would ensure best safety outcomes and go along with a level of gender belief.

Popchyk · 14/05/2019 09:35

I do wonder what effect giving testosterone to women has in terms of violent behaviour. The picture of the inmate shows someone of a large build.

That attack sounds horrific.

We've seen a few unusual crimes featuring women who identify as men recently.

"He found himself in care aged 15 and has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.”

Another looked after child who now identifies as transgender. We are seeing a real pattern.

Lexilooo · 14/05/2019 09:42

I wondered whether the hormones might have made the prisoner more prone to violence. Especially in someone with such a complex history.

It seems that the feelings of the trans person are more important when that person is M to F than F to M. Afterall a M to F person can't be kept in a male prison because it might trigger them the risk to the majority of female prisoners is ignored. But with a F to M transition it is fine to keep them in a female prison.

I'm not advocating throwing women into men's prisons but it does illustrate the differences.

The most important part of that story is that she got a suspended sentence for an attack that could have killed the Officer.

Officer. Not Guard (highly insulting)

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 14/05/2019 09:54

is this person on T? I understand the the effect of taking T kicks in pretty quickly.

A prisoner with way-above-average-for-a-woman amounts of testosterone in their system should probably not be in with the female prison population, including officers.

LangCleg · 14/05/2019 10:06

Can I just point out that this perp is another Care Leaver with a traumatic background (as per several other cases that have made the news)?

Nobody seems to be joining any dots.

Popchyk · 14/05/2019 10:08

Agreed, redhot.

A suspended sentence for that horrific attack?

Bloody hell.
