Sweden gender clinic halts blockers?

There were some tweets yesterday of a statement that Sweden has paused the use of puberty blockers until more research has been done. There were screenshots of the statement which someone translated. I can't find the tweets now and Google doesn't help. Does anyone know if this is true? I would have thought this would be breaking news. Did anyone else read about this?

I don’t know if they have paused blocker, but they have started three seperate enquieries. As far as I can make out, given I am not fluent in Swedish, and the link below is in Swedish except the brief intro, they will:

One will look into all existing knowledge and research into effects, including long term, of blockers and cross sex hormones. This will include a review of what is causing the dramatic increase in adolescents referred to gender clinics, and investigating ROGD and why this seems to particularly affect girls.

Anotherwill analyse patterns in prescriptions of off-label drugs, e.g. regional variations, ages of recipients etc. and what such patterns can tell us.

The third collects and updates all current knowledge with the aim of updating best practice.

They're realising they ought to stop them because there'll be an almighty scandal in a few years' time but if they stop them being used now loads of people will go apeshit and there'll be accusations of killing people, genocide, etc.

So they're dealing with it in the way a politician would: look like they're taking action now and hoping that someone else, at some unspecified point in the future, ends up having to deal with an almighty scandal.

I’m glad someone is investigating. I’ve posted about this before but just two years of one of these drugs in my 20s has fucked up my hormones and health for 12 years now. I have only recently got my sex drive back (although it’s come with some lovely other side effects of low blood pressure, heart palpitations etc so clearly things still aren’t right). Giving them to children when not medically essential is abhorrent.

Horrific that you and others were just given these, and still are, when no one has/had much actual knowledge of longer term effects.
There is no way your consent could be seen as informed consent.

I know people who have been given them and when asked about side effects been given zero information or just “oh well it’s like menopause so hot flashes and things like that”.

Are you kidding me? This stuff rendered me asexual for a decade. Literally. I’ve been diagnosed with ME and fibromyalgia but I don’t believe I have them, I’m sure it’s down to this drug since it all started when I was on it. I haven’t been able to work a proper job for 8 years this month. It helped my pain a lot at the time so I put up with it - if I had known what it would do to my body and my life I would never have touched it.

Ironically my son has been born with a condition that can occasionally cause precocious puberty due to endocrine issues - I am terrified I might have to decide whether to give it to him or not.

People are far too flippant about them - reversible? I wish! And it wouldn’t be so bad if, when you present years later with a catalogue of health issues that are destroying your life, doctors go “I dunno, never heard of this happening” and shrug. That’s as much help as I’ve had with the after-effects.
