Our local radio has just had a piece about the Caster Semenya ruling today. There were various implications stated as to the which way the result went but the last sentence was that it would determine if women's sport was even relevant any more!!!!!

My blood is nearly boiling through the roof especially since Charlie has just made the same statement on BBC breakfast. Ahhhhh

That second quote was from Sebastion Coe. I cannot proof read for toffee

TowelNumber42 · 01/05/2019 09:12

SebastiAn.

See. No proof reading skills ConfusedBlush

The push is already underway to remove the trans prefix, the word female is already used by lots of transwomen in their bios and some even say they've always been women.

So littl I don't think we'll even get to be transphobic for very long. There'll be no trans people. I guess they'll decide what our new designation is.

But fuck that shit!

GirlDownUnder · 01/05/2019 09:19

TowelNumber42 that does look more promising Smile

Sebastian's quote worried be for a minute til I got to or a male athlete has over a female athlete,

Let's see what kind of reaction that gets and hope for a sensible outcome on the ruling today.

(I too miss the edit function !)

littlbrowndog · 01/05/2019 09:24

Yeah and the outcome shouldn’t be that every women athlete is tested for testosterone.

Cos the varitions can be massive

Yeah girl fuck that shite.

MockerstheFeManist · 01/05/2019 09:31

Ruliing expected at Noon BST.

CAS tend to give the benefit of the doubt to governing bodies to administer sport as they think fit. They are generally tougher on national governing bodies who attempt to restrict athlete participation, such as when they ruled the BOA could not ban drug cheats for life from the Olympics.

It may or may not be relevant that in the recent SA champs, Semenya moved up to 5000m where the proposed testosterone limits will not apply.

hipsterfun · 01/05/2019 11:13

I just saw in the G that Semenya lost her case...

CAS backs IAAF but declares "serious concerns."

Semenya will move up to 5k to avoid the rule.

GeordieGenes · 01/05/2019 11:22

I do feel bad for Casper as her case is obviously different from trans women.

GirlDownUnder · 01/05/2019 11:53

DrRMk is unhappy, so it's good news for women in sport I'm assuming?
Caster's case was denied. * This is a dark day for fairness in sport.*

I'm not really sure what this means for women in sport, can someone give me a kiss overview?

I do really feel for Semenya as she's been dragged into this as a trans issue really.

GirlDownUnder · 01/05/2019 11:58

Sorry - don't mind me, I'll fully read up on the other thread so I understand Blush

From the judgement:
on the basis of the evidence submitted by the parties, such discrimination is a necessary, reasonable and proportionate means of achieving the IAAF's aim of preserving the integrity of female athletics in the restricted events.

That's a positive statement (unbelievable that I am relieved that it was stated but here we are......)

Saltovinegar · 01/05/2019 17:51

Sorry, didn't mean it to look like I'd abandoned my own thread but can't use a mobile at work.

I have some sympathy for CS but I think it was a fair ruling. Hopefully common sense will start to prevail with respect to women's sport (not holding my breath though).

This is a dark day for fairness in sport.

Like hell it is. McKinnon was just creaming themselves that they would be able to beat women even easier with their full T level going. Given they keep claiming testosterone makes absolutely no difference so men should be able to compete with women with no restrictions..unlucky, misogynist.
