Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Reading material for teens

Can anyone suggest good books for teenagers to read about gender, homosexuality, feminism, trans identities etc? I'm looking for factual books (although also getting fiction) which present as sensible and neutral stance as possible.

Suggestions for titles/authors to avoid or be wary of also useful.

Not sure you're going to find factual books about feminism because feminism is a political movement, not a branch of science. I read my mum's copy of Germaine Greer's The Female Eunuch when I was a teen and was blown away by it.

If you're after factual books there must be some good pop science books on human biology, genetics and evolution which will explain that biological sex is not a "spectrum", it's a binary (with a tiny number of people with chromosomal abnormalities/DSDs).

"Delusions of Gender" by Cordelia Fine is really well thought out and argued: deals with just how ingrained gender roles are while debunking the boy brain/girl brain thing. It's also very readable and funny

Avoid Owl - or is it Fox - Fisher.

They put out a trans guide for teens that's pure propaganda. Definitely best avoided.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll make a note of Cordelia Fine and the Fisher tip is exactly what I was after.

@FermatsTheorem I guess I'm after something like a simple beginner's guide to feminism. Whilst I'm with you on the biology, we have plenty of such books but I need something which more specifically acknowledges the trans movement whilst politely debunking the myths...

I wonder if there is such a book? (Have you discovered a gap in the market?!)
