Not sure if this is a repeat or not but basically the whole of his ‘comedy’ routine was about how some nasty transphobic trans exclusionary feminists are being mean and moaning about trans women using female toilets?
Also couldn’t understand why lesbians were protesting at Pride
He did touch on the cotton ceiling issue slightly later
He’s a straight man by the way, so eminently qualified to pontificate...
It wasn’t even remotely funny no matter what side of the debate you are on.
Grrrr.

im sorry a comedian on national television is making fun of you for who you are and your not finding it funny, that must be terrible i have no idea how that must feel.

No, most male bodied individuals don't know how it feels. Having not seen it permeate every aspect of their lives, experience and society since they were old enough to talk.

WhenIsTheEasyBit · 30/04/2019 19:39

Toorah, he did indeed show some sympathy for lesbians not wanting sex with someone with a penis. I find it fascinating that sexual partner choice is respected, but a desire for privacy and not wishing to be in a small, closed environment with a man who has explicitly chosen to ignore the fact that that space is exclusively for women, is something to poke fun at.

It's almost like he can't understand what it's like to feel vulnerable or to endure harassment purely on the basis of one's biological sex.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 30/04/2019 21:56

I'm always impressed with a man confident to enough to state that he thinks women shouldn't have sex segregated loos.

It's important that men speak out when women have too many rights.

spagbowlexplosion · 30/04/2019 22:01

I think he was funny.
Comedians are supposed to push boundaries and not be politically correct. Stop taking yourselves so seriously, comedy isn’t supposed to be serious.

This. Many people born male really don't see /understand /believe in structural sexism. They think it can't exist (except maybe in other countries Hmm) because if they faced that kind of difficulty they'd be really vocal about it and it would change. They don't hear all the women who are being really vocal.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2019 22:07

He is being "politically correct" though. That's the whole point. Typical woke nonsense.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 30/04/2019 22:13

ah, those hi-lar-ious non politically correct comedians like Bernard Manning. oh yes, not being politically correct is a sure fire sign of quality

LassOfFyvie · 30/04/2019 23:31

Comedians are supposed to push boundaries

He wasn't pushing any boundaries

and not be politically correct. He is so politically correct he could be a Guardian column.

comedy isn’t supposed to be serious

No , it's meant to be funny- he wasn't.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 30/04/2019 23:41

Grin Lass well said!

Sorry to bump an old thread but this was just repeated tonight.
He also spoke about TW in women’s sport, saying it’s cheating although he did joke that they should be able to participate just not win. He commented about about a certain weightlifter but said they’d had the “hardest life”
He mentioned a daughter, don’t know if he has one himself but it may make him feel differently

highame · 26/11/2020 08:57

I wondered how woke comedy would evolve. Here you have it

Non Comedy 😂😂

We should now be able to re-name lots of things

PawsomePugFancier · 26/11/2020 09:47

18 months ago I saw Andrew Maxwell at the Edinburgh Fringe do an equally terrible bit of comedy. He actually talked about Fallon Fox breaking someone's skull and implied we should all feel sorry for them (and not the women with the cracked skull). It was along the lines of "imagine finding yourself in that category, through no fault of your own - you either have to out yourself, play badly or pretty much kill your opponent." Diddums.

I did go down like an absolute lead balloon and the women I was with (who are not openly GC or interested in the debate) were all giving each other looks like "oh god, this is awkward." However, the reviews wrote it up as wise, kind and trail-blazing.

EyesOpening · 26/11/2020 10:24

Do you not think though, that it bring the issues to a new audience? I hadn’t heard about Fallon Fox, the weightlifter or any of these issues until a few months ago

Rubidium · 26/11/2020 11:05

Is this the same guy who was on Have I Got News For You last Friday saying that Glastonbury should be bombed next year to get rid of all the Corbyn supporters?

SunsetBeetch · 26/11/2020 11:22

*"I saw Richard Herring a few years ago and he had a little rant about GC feminists. It really pissed me off.

He’s fond of rape gags too, eg. responding to one heckler that she was too ugly to rape."*

Richard Herring is? Wow.

From looking at his Twitter, I’d say yes
