I am at work now so haven't listened to this yet, but a sentence below the podcast link is interestingly worded:

"She also discusses why it was a mistake for Stonewall to only have taken on transgender rights in 2015, and why she wishes others would recognise that trans rights are human rights."

The moral of this whole story from the GRA onwards is "hard cases make bad law".

I’ve not heard the podcast yet but if Stonewall is so open to debate and civility, has anyone ever seen a tweet, press release or anything else distancing the organisation from abusive and threatening comments?

Also, maybe this is just me, but I find it hard to believe she and her partner were challenged in a women's toilet . . .

I don't know what her partner looks like, but Ruth Hunt doesn't look like she would be mistaken for a man. The whole story seemed unlikely, with the other woman saying "have you thought about growing your hair?'

Ruth also seems to think people are asking if TWs should be involved in sport. Nobody is saying they shouldn't. As R McKinnon reminds us, playing sport is a human right. But we are questioning the male bodied taking part in women's sport. Bit different.

Case by case is the opposite of law.

Exactly. It's also the opposite having a human right, which is not a right if it can be given or taken away on a 'case by case' basis at the whim of an individual.
