Firstly - how can it take 40 years to expel a man from the Oscars Academy when he was convicted for raping a 13 year old (sorry, sorry - 'unlawful sex' - lets all observe the niceties and not call it for what it is). But secondly how can a man convicted of that then have the brass neck to sue for that decision?
I guess we have long known that if you are considered to have any kind of creative talent the usual rules no longer apply (including drugging and raping a child apparently). I mean if that man were just an accountant, or a teacher, or a street sweeper it would be wrong obviously, but to have a talent, a skill, some flair creatively and society can overlook anything, clearly. And we have known that shamefully others in your industry will be apologists for your crime (so talented, such an artist). And if you can have enough time pass then it can be politely ignored (a different time, so long ago, lets not make a scene). And that you can still be lauded and allowed to live freely without fear you may have to serve any meaningful sentence and work and be garlanded and judge the work of others (such an honour). But the way a man can look himself in the mirror and sue when finally - finally - some small step is taken to say that 'Hey, raping a child - not actually ok'????
This is the world we live in. 1977 when this happened or 2019 and this is where we still are.
