Please listen to Selina's brave interview here:-

twitter.com/LadyLoveLDN/status/1118477108408352768

even if you think this is a non-issue, and not very important, maybe you're in the let's just be nice camp, or the let's just ignore this issue, it's a bit difficult..

i'd ask you to just give Selina's post just one listen. It's less than four minutes of your life.

Just once.

Give it a listen.

And have a think.

I will not be quiet about this

Selina, I stand with you. We will not be quiet about this. I am so sorry that your hopes and dreams have been affected by this. Women need to stand up to support you.

Very brave of her to speak up.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 17/04/2019 23:49

Rather than giving a courage award to two male transgender athletes, the Connecticut Sports Writers' Alliance should award girls like Selina who show real courage.

jeaux90 · 17/04/2019 23:50

She's an amazing young woman. Total respect for her for using her voice on this issue.

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 18/04/2019 00:16

I’ve listened.
Is the situation in the USA really that bad? It sounds terrible.

Ereshkigal · 18/04/2019 00:54

Selina Thanks brave girl. It's good to hear her anger. It gives me hope.

pallisers · 18/04/2019 01:16

That is one brave girl. How anyone thinks this is fair is beyond me. Mainstream media have by and large ignored this problem - shame on them. Her exclusion from the New England championships will directly affect her college applications - and that is outside of the fact that she was robbed of a chance to have the joy of competing.

I am in Boston where the highly prestigious Boston marathon was just run. They accept self-identification and the qualifying times are different for men and women. There is absolutely no doubt that some women lost their places to men self-identifying as women. I couldn't find one reference to this on NPR, Boston Globe, Boston Herald, local news - nothing.

I noticed Fox news linked earlier - it is bad when right wing and ultra christian news media are the only ones reporting on this.

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 18/04/2019 07:41

bumping again for Selina

LangCleg · 18/04/2019 07:52

That's one courageous kid.

Selina Soule - you have been cheated out of your athletic future. It's wrong. You know it, I know it and they know it.

I think you have more courage than any of them.

NotBadConsidering · 18/04/2019 07:54

Amazing young woman. I’ll share it widely.

MoltenLasagne · 18/04/2019 08:13

Poor girl - I remember seeing that video for the first time with the two boys winning by miles and all the girls looking so dejected because they knew they couldn’t be angry without being punished for it.

How could any sports body see that margin of victory and think they’d done the right thing?

FamilyOfAliens · 18/04/2019 08:22

Heartbreaking as well how Selina has to check her language so carefully in the YouTube video, so as not to come over as “transphobic”.

This highlights yet again how little self-awareness some trans people have when it comes to the impact of their demands on others. Anyone else would feel deeply embarrassed to be celebrating a win in such an unlevel playing field.

andyoldlabour · 18/04/2019 09:35

Meanwhile in New Zealand Kate Weatherley (the transwoman who started competing in the women's category just 3 weeks after competing as a man) started off their 2019 season with an emphatic win, which would have placed them 7th in the Elite men's category.
Further proof that having a male physique makes no difference - really? Hmm

And won the New Zealand national championships for the 2nd year running.
Why is nobody kicking up a fuss about this? Sad

OtepotiLilliane42 · 18/04/2019 10:57

anyoldlabour There are quite a few articles about Kate Weatherley and the fairness or not of transgender women competing in women's sports, but I think Peter Williams, a well known NZ sportswriter, sums up the situation well here.

www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport/2019/03/peter-williams-trans-gender-athletes-aren-t-cheating-but-not-fair.html

Selina speaks the simple truth with regards to the unfairness of girls like her having to compete against young men, and it makes me so angry that she has to tiptoe around the obvious solution, which is to keep girls' and women's sport separate from men's. Never thought I would be cheering on Laura Ingraham about anything, but on this issue she is spot on.

OtepotiLilliane42 · 18/04/2019 11:22

I meant to highlight these comments from Peter Williams in my first post, because they say it all really. What puzzles me is why weren't transgender athletes, if they born male, and had competed as males, laughed out of court in the first instance when they said they had the right to compete as females?

There's also the downhill mountain biker in New Zealand, Kate Weatherley, who won the national title a year ago, less than a month after competing as a man.But she complied with the rules, she was allowed in and she won easily. There's the problem - transgender athletes have rights to compete in the agenda they now identify with, but other athletes have rights too - the right to believe they will be taking part in a fair competition.Despite testosterone being reduced to IOC standards, the reality is a person born male will be stronger than a person born female. That's just how life works.

R0wantrees · 18/04/2019 11:25

I hope that Selina Soule's words will be shared widely, they should be.

Alienspaceship · 18/04/2019 11:31

Wow, brave and very articulate.

Datun · 18/04/2019 11:44

Selina Soule you are truly a champion amongst women and a champion for women.

When I first saw Yearwood compete, I thought well that won't last long. It's so obviously, nonsensically unfair.

So I know that I share this experience with many others, of peaking, and then peaking again, relentlessly, on an almost daily basis.

But this sports issue, particularly amongst youngsters, for some reason, still leaves me absolutely fucking dumbfounded.

These male individuals haven't even been taking hormones.

And is the plan to move the Overton window so that, at least, we breathe a sigh of relief when they've been on hormones? Because that ain't gonna happen.

But the fact that they have just literally walked onto the women's track is so grossly wrong, I don't see how anyone, anywhere can support it.

All I can conclude is that the people involved are fucking cowards. Morally corrupt, unethical, and women hating. All of them.

PickleC · 18/04/2019 12:11

Hope this gets shared widely as she so clearly explains the impact on her and her fellow athletes. That would be the same at all levels of competition but even more so when college places or sponsorship are at stake and dropping one place makes such a difference to your future. Truly brave for speaking out.

OvaHere · 18/04/2019 12:30

Excellent video and one that should be viewed by all politicians.

They should all have to explain how they can endorse such wilful damage to the sporting careers of young girls.

ILuvBirdsEye · 18/04/2019 12:33

Brave, brave girl. It should not need such bravery from her.
Where are all the grownups????

All I can conclude is that the people involved are fucking cowards. Morally corrupt, unethical, and women hating. All of them. absolutely!!

Melroses · 18/04/2019 13:13

I really don't understand why people stand by and let this happen. Especially sports bodies - what are they there for?

There might be some short term sparkle, with brave and stunning headlines and big wins, but long term it does nothing for anybody.

Datun · 18/04/2019 15:57

They should all have to explain how they can endorse such wilful damage to the sporting careers of young girls.

And their academic careers which rest on their sporting prowess.
