Andrew Gilligan report:

The Green Party ignored allegations that its former deputy leader had been involved in sexual misconduct with children, allowing him to remain as a councillor and continue at senior levels of the party for a further two years.

Good points raised by posters about why safeguarding is more important for political parties than random shop or office workers.

I would add the other risk is their influence on the policy making process and the risk of parties wanting to shut down investigations for fear of ‘scandal’. The events leading up to David Challenor make a lot more sense to me now, knowing that DC was not an isolated ‘rogue’ member.

Sad how the Green Party has moved away from its original purpose.

It clearly isn't ineptitude.

The Greens are doing this deliberately.

Senior members who are still in the Green Party have worked together in order to bury allegations of the abuse of children and protect fellow members.

You'd have to conclude that these senior members have a specific reason for doing that.
