Facebook reporting and their shit “community standards”

So earlier today, an acquaintance from years ago shared an image on Facebook, captioned with a ton of laughing face emojis that honestly made me feel sick.
I’m not going to share the image here, but it was a cartoon of a woman asleep on her back in bed, with a man standing over her, holding her nose and putting his erect penis in her open mouth. The main caption read: “when you come home tipsy but she’s already asleep”.
I reported it to Facebook.
Received a notification from Facebook a few hours later stating that the image is not being removed because “it doesn’t violate our community standard” Hmm
What the actual fuck?!
Blatant imagery of sexual assault doesn’t violate their community standards?!!

What? How can that possibly be acceptable? Fucking hell.

Twunk · 09/04/2019 21:16

According to FB “standards” this is ok (said to a friend of mine).

Everything is acceptable on Facebook and Twitter, except for women speaking up against misogynists of all stripes.

IntoValhalla · 09/04/2019 21:19

Twunk what sort of cuntfuckery is that?!!! Shock

Isn’t that particular act, as you’ve described it, actually rape? If non consenting?

IntoValhalla · 09/04/2019 21:27

Humber I would have thought so. Which is exactly why I reported it!!! But apparently not the way Twatbook sees it

You need to watch this documentary about FB content moderation. It was eye-opening and quite disturbing in equal measure.

IntoValhalla · 09/04/2019 21:51

ILike definitely sounds like an interesting watch!

@KatvonHostileExtremist Maybe that post carries a different meaning in context but presented in isolation like that, it reads like calling out sexist attitudes towards women.

Am I missing something here?? Confused

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 10/04/2019 12:19

Yeah, the stuff thats allowed is shocking, when speaking up for womens rights is banned.

I remember one of my posts being removed a while back and a threat of a ban appearing because I had been discussing male violence, they removed my post as it was offensive. However on the same day, I reported a video of some guy kicking the shit out of a woman, and that was apparently not against the community standards Hmm

Facebook is notorious for this kind of crap, which is why I left it. If you’re still there, there’s a Facebook group called Double Standards I think it is ... which records things like this. I saw all the crazy things they allow and the things women get suspensions for. Totally mind blowing and I did not want to be there after learning what I did. Hundreds of women reporting sick porn stuff, nothing. Telling a man harassing a 17 year old on a news article about her TSS, that he should ‘piss off’ being a man who doesn’t menstruate= I get suspended. He was literally telling her it’s her own fault for having a smelly fanny. But I get suspended.
Honestly, I really wish all women would leave that horrible place.

TRAs targeted my FB and reported a photo of my DD aged 2, from 4 years ago, jamming a huge slice of sticky chocolate birthday cake into her mouth.

She wasn’t wearing a t-shirt because it was a hot summer day and was sat at a table so all you could see was bare shoulders and nothing from the chest down. And not that much flesh.

FB suddenly informed me last week that they were removing it and various twitter accounts boasted about having reported me for naked photos of my children .

I appealed the decision & they upheld it. Nudity and sexual content. Of a 2 year old eating chocolate cake. I don’t really care given what’s going on I need to delete photos, but honestly. Woeful.

Cat and mouse caro. That’s what this is

With help of twitter and Facebook

Google cat and mouse act 2013

Ereshkigal · 10/04/2019 13:24

It says more about whoever reported tbh, Caro, that they thought it could be targeted like that. And about the MRAs and TRAs at FB obviously.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 10/04/2019 13:35

Isn’t Facebook mods like, 70% white Men? Can’t remember where I read that though

CallMeWoman · 10/04/2019 13:41

Do not expect justice out of the cesspits of social media platforms. They are enemy territory.

JackyHolyoake · 10/04/2019 13:50

Facebook mods all type with one hand 'cos the other one is busy! Wink

JessicaWakefieldSV · 10/04/2019 14:14

CallMeWoman- agreed!

IntoValhalla · 10/04/2019 18:14

The whole thing is grim Hmm
Some of the stuff I’ve seen on there, that’s reported an allowed to stay up, makes me think 2 things:

  1. What planet do the moderators live on (semi-answered by the link to the documentary upthread)
  2. Who the fuck in their right mind sees something awful (ie a horrific accident) and thinks “I know! I’ll whip my phone out, film it and post it on Facebook Hmm

That's rape, and disgusting. However, I have had an image removed, the only time I've ever reported anything on FB.

It was an image of a very old woman -- probably in her 90's, and wrinkly all over, skin literally hanging in folds, standing naked. It was posted by a male "friend"He made a few very mocking comments about her. Her face was visible. I didn't know him irl and unfriended him. He did have a tantrum about the reporting, though, before being unfriended. Called me a prude. I don't care.

Facebook did delete it, but probably because it was disgusting to the males who police it.

They probably enjoyed or at least "saw the joke" of the OP's image.

Lamaha · 10/04/2019 18:37

I have to say, though, that my FB feed is generally pretty clean. Mostly about books, Brexit, beautiful scenes, kittens and puppies and other animals.
