Which party is most female friendly?

Bitchywaitress · 08/04/2019 18:42

Encouraged to post this after a very nice chap knocked on my door from the lib dems to ask how I would be voting in the local by elections.

I said I had been a Labour voter for years but was concerned about their attitude towards women. I’m also a bit of a shy Tory, but in all honesty I don’t know which way I will vote next. Everything is such a mess at the moment politically.

In your opinion, what party has the most female (as in adult human female) friendly policies?

Going online it seems the Lib Dem’s want to increase childcare provision, scrap the 2 child cap on benefits etc. ALL of the major parties seem to have drank the TRA’s cool aid. Would be really interested in other women’s thoughts.

Politician's will promise the earth to get elected then do nothing, with the carry on with Brexit by every party i won't be voting again, they are not respecting the leave vote.

Bitchywaitress · 08/04/2019 18:50

While I appreciate your stance happy, not voting is not an option for me. Although it seems at the moment that there are no good options, I couldn’t bring myself to withdraw from the process all together.

Didn't the Communist Party publish something positive a few months back?

AssassinatedBeauty · 08/04/2019 18:52

I can't get past the total acceptance of genderism to examine the rest of the policies of the three main parties. Then, the total fuck up that is Brexit adds another layer, where I feel like none of the current politicians are capable enough to be doing the job.

In the local elections I only have a choice of the three main parties. I had hoped for an independent candidate campaigning on a local issue, but no luck in my ward. So I really really don't know who to vote for, and I hate the idea of not voting. So no idea what to do.

Very interesting reading, but... communism???

Fuck me, I never thought I would be agreeing with something from the Morning Star! Then again I said the same about the Daily Mail a year ago.

The Lib Dem’s are the LEAST female friendly party.

I would vote UKIP before I voted for them.

See this thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3496404-Message-from-Lynne-Featherstone-Lib-Dems

None of the main parties are actually ‘female friendly’.

Not the time for tribal politics, meet with your MP find out their personal stance, if they’re not GC find out other candidates positions. Vote for anyone from ANY party who is prepared to recognise biological sex and if none spoil your ballot.

Micaela64 · 09/04/2019 07:45

UKIP probably, lolz

HorsewithnoLycra · 09/04/2019 07:55

Me neither. Their monumental lack of critical thought on this one subject makes me fear that they probably apply the same "rigour" to other matters.

I don't imagine there will be a communist standing in our ward.

Sooverthemill · 09/04/2019 07:58

The Women's Equality Party

Yep! It’s a disturbing realisation isn’t it?

The Women's Equality Party

Have they managed to define what a woman is yet?

GCAcademic · 09/04/2019 08:03

The Women’s Equality Party can’t define “woman” either. And their treatment of Heather Bruskell-Evans was a disgrace. I hope those responsible for that looked at those stories in the Times yesterday and that the penny dropped. I suspect not, though.

HandsOffMyRights · 09/04/2019 08:04

Amy Challenor has been embraced by the Lib Dems. They were originally in The Green Party (don't even get me started on their treatment of women). www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/green-party-aimee-david-challenor-15677155

Many parties have referred to women as 'T**fs'

Agree that the Communist Party is the only one that can define a woman.

I feel politically homeless.

teawamutu · 09/04/2019 08:06

With a heavy heart, I will be spoiling my ballot paper (with an AHF sticker) unless one of the parties manages to correctly identify a woman. It is actually that bad.

PositiveDiscipline · 09/04/2019 08:10

Didn't the Lib Dems just welcome Aimee Challenor with open arms?
Didn't Caroline Lucas throw women under a bus WRT the person above?
Labour HATE women.
Conservatives despise the working class, the poor, the disabled and the sick irrespective of what sex they are.

Not sure who is left? Won't vote for any of the above. We have a local party but they don't usual run in local elections. Shame, as they would get in but then only have 1 seat in parliament.

If UKIP put up candidates or Nigel Farage sets up a Brexit Party and gets candidates together then I am pretty sure they are going to get loads of votes from people who cannot bring themselves to vote for any of the above and want to sock it to the government.

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 09/04/2019 08:10

The women's equality party lost me when they labelled anyone not a trans woman with that three letter C word.

Sexnotgender · 09/04/2019 08:15

Absolutely none of them unless you fancy voting for UKIP.

Wouldn’t touch the Lib Dems, Labour, Tories or Greens with a barge pole right now.

As it stands I’ll probably spoil my ballot which upsets me, I couldn’t in good conscience vote for any of them though.

andyoldlabour · 09/04/2019 08:15

Politics - how it works.
Politicians tell us lies, lies which are attractive to us.
We vote for the politicians.
Politicians get into power and "forget" what they should be doing - representing the people who voted for them.
The electorate vote the politicians into power, and once the politicians are comfortable, the party donors and lobbyists decide what the politicians are going to do.
It is money which dictates what the politicians do - not the electorate.

EvaHarknessRose · 09/04/2019 08:29

Is there any hope from the independent group

Micaela64 · 09/04/2019 08:31

I was being sarcastic about UKIP as I do think they'd maybe be bad for women in other ways but I might vote for them out of protest tbh. The small parties have sod all chance of gaining any significant power with the voting system we have anyway and I couldn't care less if Tories or Labour get in at this point.

Fazackerley · 09/04/2019 08:32

Conservative. Most likely not to let the Kool Aid contaminate everything. Plus my mp has been good over brexit.

Fazackerley · 09/04/2019 08:32

Is there any hope from the independent group

No

newmumwithquestions · 09/04/2019 08:40

I genuinely don’t know. I can’t get behind any of them. I don’t want to spoil my ballot, don’t want any of them in. I’m traditionally labour with flutterings of green... but can’t support either of them. Couldn’t vote right wing though - that’s throwing too many women under the bus.
