First experience of a unisex changing room

As I walked in, a man was just in front of me. We both stopped and asked a shop assistant if the changing rooms were unisex. We both looked equally uncomfortable when she said they were.

Although the changing rooms were full length doors, there was a clear gap through which you could see into the changing rooms, although if you stood in the centre, you wouldn't be seen.

I have two daughters, 7 and 9. The oldest has just started to want to be in a cubicle by herself. Fortunately, we managed to secure the two cubicles right at the back. I stayed in the middle, helping both of them. I say fortunately, because my younger daughter several times opened the door in just her knickers. Had we been further up the isle, she would have been clearly visible to anyone passing. I didn't want to go in with her, because I wouldn't then have been able to keep an eye on my older child (who got stuck in a top with confusing straps and needed help to escape).

Yeah. Not a fan.

Sounds awful OP. You should send all that to customer services to have your experience recorded at the very least. The man in front of you probably didn't like it either. How awkward for you and your girls, you don't want them to feel scared, I bet you were hiding how you felt to try to make them feel at ease.

I only ever buy online but want to cut back on that due to all the plastic that comes with it but your experience does put me off returning to the high street.
