Susannah's sanctimonious 'But it's very personal, isn't it?' in that fingerwagging, more-in-sorrow-in-anger-but-you-really-have-let-yourself-down-here-Caroline tone!
Of course it's personal, because it references one case, but as Caroline attempted to say in the face of constant interruption there's also a legitimate public interest because SG has a job as CEO of a charity that's in receipt of large amounts of funding from the government, local government and the Lottery, and that charity is lobbying for the NHS to use the charity's preferred medical approach, not the one the clinicians believe is best on their own judgement.
And on the back of training delivered by said charity and others in the same area, the police, education authorities, schools, social service departments, government departments, the CPS, universities, other charities and even private companies are all changing policies, often misrepresenting and misapplying the Equalities Act along the way, and all of this is removing protection for women and girls and for children and other vulnerable groups - with no strong scientific evidence base to justify it.
It's an absolute scandal and all Susannah Reid can do is sigh about using words that she thinks are a little bit strong and might cause hurt feelings. Amazing.
