Hi everyone! I have been reading and learning from you for about two years. Watching and reading about the UK's GRA and proposed Self-ID on different sites has been enlightening but I have gained so much from your wisdom.

My primary concern as a US citizen is the pervasive threat to female sex based rights under our Civil Rights Act.

MN has inspired me to research my state and federal political representatives' perspectives on sex based rights as well as prepare a fact based/case supported communication to distribute.

My concerns are far reaching and cover too many avenues to communicate effectively in one document (I do want the communication to be read and hopefully considered)... I plan to mine more info from you in order to help refine and focus my GC concerns in relation to sex based rights i.e. most impactful views.

What is your one greatest concern about erosion of your sex based rights?

Thanks to all in advance!

Hi OP, I also find great strength and info from this board, makes me feel less alone too!

My main concern, of which there are many, is children. The affirmation, the hormones leading to likely surgery, the language in schools and most of all the safeguarding.

It's a broad topic and I get angry every day but I will continue on for the sake of children.

My biggest concern is the loss of single sex spaces and services;
Hospital wards
Mammograms
Toilets
Changing rooms
Domestic violence shelters
Rape Crisis
Prisons
Psychiatric wards
Intimate care provided by nursing staff or care assistants.

Its ridiculous that a private club can be single sex but not a situation where women are forced to undress, manage a period or miscarriage, or shower with strangers.

Children.
Trans lobby groups are rolling back our safeguarding legislation, our medical ethics approach to children, our laws about the age of consent and free speech - all in plain sight. Everyone - including politicians - is too scared to confront them.
We mustn't wait until there are thousands of victims - as has happened with so many other abuse scandals. We have to confront this now.

Regulars will know that I'm currently in dispute/correspondence with the local council about the gyms and their policy on trans use of women's changing rooms.

Yesterday I was at the one which has solely an open-plan women's changing room, no cubicles at all. I can't remember a time when I've ever felt so vulnerable as I was there, knowing that at any time a man could enter the room.

Having a policy whereby people 'can use the facilities which best align with their gender (sic)' is quite simply an open invitation to any men (trans or not trans) who like ogling or assaulting women. And we women can do nothing about them entering those spaces.

Policies and practices have to be based on sound information.

When the integrity of the information is compromised, planning becomes impossible.

There was an example given to the Justice Minister in Scotland recently: Only one woman had been convicted in 2018 for a crime in connection with indecent images of children. And then three other "women" were convicted of possessing indecent images of children. To the uninitiated, it would seem that there had been a huge increase in women committing indecency crimes and being placed on the Sex Offenders register. It's unprecedented and screams out for something to be done about the spike in women paedophiles.

Knowing that three of the offenders were actually men puts a case for a wholly different policy set.

Data collection based on sex disappears with self i/d.

Sports is a huge issue.
If the USA act goes through, the protected characteristic of sex is removed and replaced with (vague undefinable) gender then basically it's bye bye to women's sports in America.

Not only will women lose out to male-born women (as we're already seeing) but women who identify as men (will need to compete with men) will loose out to males in virtually all sports so it's literally bye bye to women in sports regardless of how they identify, while males get the extra kick out of being able to thrash women too.

It will mean any space that is sex segregated for legitimate reasons, privacy, dignity etc not to mention safety will be made unisex to include whoever, whenever.

Sex specific spaces are valued and most were only earned after the hard graft of feminists as little as 100 years ago.
The first women's toilets were burned down by men. They're now being removed by stealth. Women's sport was hard enough to establish, now it's being destroyed by stealth.

Looking at your posts I thinking starting with how this movement affects children is my best bet. Since what affects children intersects with what affects adults they are an important and effective opener.

I'm going to do some reflecting...
