Is it just me, or have Mermaids been releasing rather a lot of statements recently Hmm

It's good that a journalist is looking into this though.

For fuck's sake

We all have the right to travel safely but the list doesn't include women and girls (sex).

Who are subject to vast amounts of shite all over the country every day while trying to "travel safely" like to school etc.

It's so in your face isn't it.

Of course women and girls are not covered under hate legislation due to their sex,

We all know why (cost and prevalence and much of the public seeing harassment of women and girls as "banter" etc)

So I suppose that is why the poster is that way.

Reminds me of that time someone asked women to donate to a cab fund for a transwoman saying "try to imagine not feeling safe walking home at night" I mean just fuck off.

I suppose the difference is that when women and girls are attacked people usually point the finger at them for being in the wrong place etc which hopefully happens less with other groups.

We are ignored either way. When women report sex crimes their location, clothing, behaviour and past is scrutinised. When women try to mitigate risk of sex crimes happening, by say, requesting single sex toilets, they are told to make sure that males found within those spaces don't feel awkward.

The feedback quotes aren't convincing.

It helps if you give some clues to who is speaking

"It was OK" (headteacher, primary school, Liverpool)
" It will definitely change my outlook" (councillor, Leeds)
"More people need this input" (trans police officer, Merseyside)

With every attempt to engage with criticism, Mermaids continues to reveals itself as an amateurish outfit that is clueless.
