It's not 'misgendering', it's 'biosexing'

Just saw this on twitter - "is it a crime now to biosex someone?" I quite like it! Has anyone else seen this?

So, misgendering is non-bio?

EcclesThePeacock · 20/03/2019 18:00

So, misgendering is non-bio?

No, the other way round.

TurboTeddy · 20/03/2019 18:05

You've got to hand it to the TRA's their capacity to corrupt language is limitless in its creativity. 🤔

TeenTimesTwo · 20/03/2019 19:09

No Turbo it means if you call a self-id transwoman 'he' then you aren't mis-gendering you are using their biological sex so you are 'biosexing'.

WeRiseUp · 20/03/2019 19:50

Gendering is no-bio, but 'misgendering' is bio - biosexing.

I like it.

DpWm · 20/03/2019 19:53

I don't buy non-bio, it's just not as effective despite being better if you have sensitive skin.

Bio all the way! I think pronouns that I use refer to sex so I am not misgendering anyone. Now I have a word for this. Fantastic!

RevealTheLegend · 20/03/2019 20:47

Well surely it’s only polite when meeting someone to refer to sex not gender.

After all, there are 73 genders, and I certainly can’t differentiate those by sight.

I can almost always biosex someone by sight in an instant though....

Socrates11 · 20/03/2019 21:02

Saw 'correct sexing' today too but bio-sexing is a great rebuttal to the nonsense.

BickerinBrattle · 20/03/2019 21:23

Misgendering is also known as “speaking grammatically correct English.”

Isn’t grammatically correct English also known as “the Queen’s English”?

I’m living in the UK but American, so pardon if there’s something I don’t understand, but how can speaking the Queen’s English, in England, possibly be a crime?

MhairiV · 20/03/2019 21:58

Ha, I was thinking about this earlier - if they can develop completely new words and terms (and meanings) then why can't other people do the same? Biosexing works for me.

If anybody can come up with a good one for an inverted insidey out penis skin pocket that would be great. (Ideally with colon hybrid version)

TurboTeddy · 20/03/2019 21:58

Teen I understood but my response was based on the question about whether biosexing was a crime.

EcclesThePeacock · 20/03/2019 22:01

I doubt it's a criminal but it is tautological.

Iggypoppie · 20/03/2019 22:03

I spotted it too. Very good word.

NeufQuestions · 20/03/2019 22:10

I think you may have been reading my Twitter comment?

Yes biosexing is using pronouns related to the person's actual biological sex rather than their gender.

I've no problems using people's preferred pronouns out of courtesy, but it seems madness to prosecute people who don't wish to do that.

Misgendering has become such a common phrase, it seems like it's time for GC people to develop our own language that reflects our own beliefs and science/reality
