Apologies for the photos of my tellyBlush

Ridiculous that Caro was being interviewed about these.

How did the BBC get them?

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 20/03/2019 13:29

Caroline Farrow's tweets seem very reasonable and sensible.

Good on Jackie Green for having a low media profile nowadays and hopefully getting on with life.

Sexnotgender · 20/03/2019 13:31

I do hope Jackie is happy. Interesting that (a) they keep a very low profile and (b) they live nowhere near their mother.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/03/2019 13:32

Having seen the actual tweets I don't think there is anything in there which isn't entirely factual?

OvaHere · 20/03/2019 13:48

Those tweets were reasonable and certainly reflect my thoughts on the situation. SG clearly wishes to use the police as a weapon against criticism. That the police collude with this is appalling. SG is the public face of an influential charity and therefore certainly not beyond criticism for things she herself made public knowledge.

BigGoat · 20/03/2019 13:51

At this stage, I think Susie Green is just engaging in deflection.

She illegally took her 16 year old child from this country to Thailand to undergo genital reassignment surgery. This involves the removal and inversion of the child's penis, which has resulted in the child's sterilization. The procedure is now illegal in Thailand too.

We've had our first prosecution for FGM in this country, I reckon her time as lauded social campaigner is running out.

Popchyk · 20/03/2019 14:03

Those tweets are perfectly reasonable.

That was the worst that Susie Green has had said about her? Really?

Ever been on Kiwi Farms, Susie?

Or is Susie strategically reporting 'hate incidents' to further her own agenda and silence dissent of the transgender cult?

Like she trains children to do on the residential weekends at Mermaids.

reallybadidea · 20/03/2019 14:17

I can't believe Susie Green thought that it was a good idea to broadcast those completely reasonable tweets to a huge audience 🤣 Making a wider audience aware of the grim (illegal) reality of what "supporting her child" actually entailed seems like a bit of an own goal.

ReSistersUnited · 20/03/2019 14:19

Just watching it here. Starts 2:28

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0003g91/victoria-derbyshire-20032019

Am going to go back and watch the previous item after, looks like it was possibly to do with VAWG / emotional abuse (just skipped through it).

EweSurname · 20/03/2019 14:25

Honestly, you'd think they'd have realised the dangers of the Streisand Effect but no, on they go

buzzbobbly · 20/03/2019 14:26

It is just lie after lie after lie.

buzzbobbly · 20/03/2019 14:27

And I find the repeated, almost manic references to "my daughter" every other breath incredibly tedious. It just sounds scripted and deliberate.

Talk about the lady doth protest too much.

terfsandwich · 20/03/2019 15:25

Oh wow. Well done Caro. You couldn't have asked for better written tweets to give publicity to the worst aspects of Susie Green. I'm boggled she reported them. Did she not see it would help give the public a fresh, clear perspective?

TheRattleBag · 20/03/2019 16:33

A slight correction to @ReSistersUnited above - the section with Susie Green starts at about 22:28 on the linked video.

tobee · 20/03/2019 16:41

The bbc news app piece about this story seems very slanted. No mention of SG taking her child for illegal op.

R0wantrees · 20/03/2019 22:40

Susie Green is being scrutinised because she is the CEO of a very influential charity which lobbies parliament, public services & trains NHS staff, Police, teachers etc.

As Mermaids works with vulnerable children and their families the CEO should have a very sound grounding in Safeguarding frameworks.

Suesie Green has demonstrated that she and Mermaids Charity do not understand Safeguarding.

EweSurname · 20/03/2019 22:59

Chief Brody
@ChiefBrody19
PLEASE RT. Been contacted by a journalist writing about the schools turning their backs on Mermaids because of its poor publicity. DM me if you can help and please RT if you know anyone who can. Thanks.

TurboTeddy · 20/03/2019 23:19

SG must feel untouchable if she is willing to draw the attention of the police to those tweets. It is factually correct to say SRS is illegal in this country before the age of 18.

I thought Caro very reasonably pointed out that SG may have made decisions based on her assessment of the risks to her child but advocating it as standard protocol for GNC adolescents is inappropriate, particularly given the dearth of research into the long term health implications of such early treatment.

buzzbobbly · 21/03/2019 07:40

particularly given the dearth of research into the long term health implications of such early treatment.

How much of the type of study in the triangle have we seen vs the circle + much worse - tumblr et al.

(taken from an anti vaxxer thing, so adjust accordingly)

r0 do you know whether there’s a newspaper write up of this?

www.transgendertrend.com/tavistock-experiment-puberty-blockers/

I’m having a discussion with someone who is claiming that the effects of puberty blockers and cross sex hormones in children is well understood and they’d dismiss a transgender trend source.

R0wantrees · 21/03/2019 12:57

EweSurname I've seen it covered in US Christian media source. Would imagine that this might be similarly disregarded?

The article is by Assoc Prof. Michael Biggs who is an academic at Oxford University. Its just been hosted on the TGT website.

This BMJ paper may be a better for your friend to consider. Prof Henaghan leads Evidence-Based Medicine at Oxford!

Professor Carl Heneghan was interviewed on recent Panorama & as a consequence of his analysis concluded that 'informed consent is not possible'

BMJ EBM Spotlight paper:
'Gender-affirming hormone in children and adolescents – Evidence review'
Posted on 25th February 2019

(extract)
"Gender dysphoria occurs when a person experiences discomfort or distress because of a mismatch between their biological sex and gender identity. Gender dysphoria can arise in childhood and adolescent which raises many questions about how best to handle the condition. This post sets out the current evidence for gender-affirming hormones in adolescents and children to aid decision making. (continues)

"Conclusions

There are significant problems with how the evidence for Gender-affirming cross-sex hormone has been collected and analysed that prevents definitive conclusions to be drawn. Similar to puberty blockers, the evidence is limited by small sample sizes; retrospective methods, loss of considerable numbers of patients in follow-up. The majority of studies also lack a control group (only two studies used controls). Interventions have heterogeneous treatment regimes complicating comparisons between studies. Also adherence to the interventions are either not reported or at best inconsistent. Subjective outcomes, which are highly prevalent in the studies, are also prone to bias due to lack of blinding, and many effects can be explained by regression to the mean.

The development of these interventions should, therefore, occur in the context of research. Treatments for under 18 gender dysphoric children and adolescents remain largely experimental. There are a large number of unanswered questions that include the age at start, reversibility; adverse events, long term effects on mental health, quality of life, bone mineral density, osteoporosis in later life and cognition. We wonder whether off label use is appropriate and justified for drugs such as spironolactone which can cause substantial harms, including death. We are also ignorant of the long-term safety profiles of the different GAH regimens. The current evidence base does not support informed decision making and safe practice."

You are an absolute superstar! Thank you for all of that.

R0wantrees · 21/03/2019 13:34

Happy to help Smile

HawkeyeInConfusion · 21/03/2019 19:00

Have you seen this? Do you think the government has noticed how Mermaids, Stonewall et al have absolutely no understanding of basic safeguarding?
