The person who researched and came up with the term “Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria” has finally been able to re-publish her paper about it.

There was a lot of uproar that it was transphobic www.sciencemag.org/news/2018/08/new-paper-ignites-storm-over-whether-teens-experience-rapid-onset-transgender-identity

and Brown university decided to delete a press release about the paper

www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/brown-university-criticized-over-removal-transgender-study-n90674

It’s finally been published!

@LisaLittman1
I am delighted to report that, after a rigorous post-publication review, a revised version of my paper has been published by PLOS ONE. I am pleased that my work has withstood this extensive peer-review process. /1.

I am amazed that my research has received such widespread attention, including over 146,500 views. And I am grateful that my work has contributed to a global interest in the rapidly changing presentation of adolescent-onset gender dysphoria. /2.

I am committed to protecting the rights, health, and mental health of all people, and this includes transgender people. /3.

Some people are using this research to imply that it represents the experiences of all people with gender dysphoria and to negate the fact that transition can be beneficial for some. That is a misuse of this work and is not acceptable. /4

Some people are helped by transition and some people are harmed by transition. There needs to be more research to better understand how to maximize benefit and minimize harm. /5

I look forward to future research on this important topic. Gaining a better understanding of the development of gender dysphoria will allow us to better help the current population of teens and young adults experiencing it. /6.

There’s also an article out in quillette:

An Interview With Lisa Littman, Who Coined the Term ‘Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria’

I think I will send the link to all the MPs I've spoken to about this

Daughterofmabel · 20/03/2019 09:56

who was the mp who called for this to be investigated? She needs to see it too.

There are a lot of trans activists who are posting as though they have been vindicated

Bless them not noticing it’s a ‘sorry not sorry’ all dressed up in correction clothing.

“We recognize that issues with the study should have been addressed prior to publication. We have and will learn from the case, and since have completed an internal restructure so that we can better support our Editorial Board”

It’s quite astonishing to see something like this. The power and influence of trans gender rights activists over science is like no other minority group, ever.

Astonishingly sexist and poorly designed studies are published in psych journals all the time. Not just “women’s brains are different”. Like I saw on reddit awhile back a published “study” which basically asked women whether they found pictures of fit men more attractive (answer? Duh).

So far, stupid, but fine. But Then the discussion was entirely about how alpha males get more sex because Biology. Didn’t consider whether nurture could possibly influence women’s reported preferences on a survey. Nope. The discussion was entirely “wimminz like buff guys so poor beta males wah Wah”

Yet somehow, entire editorial boards of journals do not get rearranged in order to respond to such nonsense, anti feminist studies. If only we could figure out why... hmmm...

There is a good interview with Lisa Littman in Quillette
I saw the link on Twitter a couple of days ago. There were several TRAs in the thread claiming that since Quillette is a RW hate-site (one of their editors had apparently said something bigoted a couple of years ago), anyone getting published by them was also a bigot.
Typical attack-the-messenger behaviour from transcultists who can't refute any of the arguments.
PS: I have no idea what Quillette's political leanings are; I only read the interview.

I noticed in there a guardian writer characterised it as "a website obsessed with the alleged war on free speech on campus" ... which maybe tells you more about the guardian than Quillette.

I first came across it because Debbie Hayton had a piece on it.

nettie434 · 20/03/2019 12:50

Eccles/Grumpygran I’ve only read the odd article in Quillette too - I thought of it as free speechy and aiming to be iconoclastic. Mind you, I’ve had to change a lot of my reading recently so hey ho.

The publisher of the study which invented ‘Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria’ admits that the science was faulty, issues correction and apology.
Theories on trans ‘contagion’ are bunk - just like theories on gay/lesbian ‘contagion’

Any forthcoming apologies from GC ‘feminists’? 🤨
