Ladies I'll begin by saying I think I've literally had enough of it. I want to scream. Not sure if it's my recent miscarriage that is making me a tad more irritated but I feel like banging my head against the wall.

Men everywhere all around me seem to want to "explain" things to me in the most condescending tone recently.

I think it reached its pinnacle last night/today with a social media post.

Now I'm now Margaret Thatcher fan, but I was attempting to have a conversation with others about how I believed had she been a man I don't believe she would have bees as widely vilified. The conversation was going well.

We were having a pleasant enough conversation , points such as Osbourne's austerity and UC by IDS has actually statistically caused far worse poverty and homeless rates than ever before, but they will hardly get "ding dong the witch is dead to number one" when they pass away.

Well in thunders a person man that decided to shout the entire conversation down, tells me he is "ready for my flying monkeys" and then the cherry on the top of the cake "you seem to have a problem with men"

I am enraged. Probably too much so, but nonetheless I feel rage.

Suppose I just came here for a rant. Who knows....

I can see your paragraphs and where you're coming from. Some people may pride themselves on being logical and unemotional but in fact they often have the thinnest of skins. I have a few FB friends with whom I've given up trying to talk about anything mildly feminist because they are so easily enraged. They seem to take everything personally. So I exclude thrm from the conversation, using that handy FB editing tool 'Friends except...' and choose my battles.

Flowers for your recent loss.

Ps Should have made clear that the people who give me that problem all happen to be male. It was to them I was directing the criticism! I know too well how it feels ehen they sound off.

"you seem to have a problem with men"

Well they do continue to behave like arseholes, so yes.

Regan was doing the same thing across the pond and no one was trying to dance on his grave.

Look at the photos they choose of Theresa May, I'm no great fan but she's doing the best she can with the pile of shit she's been left with. The media choose photos that make her look like a witch and the cartoons drawn of her have exaggerated pointy noses.

Block the fucker.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 15/03/2019 12:47

Yes. When women have an issue with anything, they are stroppy bitches. Men are allowed to be angry.

The same words, in the same tone, will get a different reaction, depending on who they were delivered by.

I'm sorry about your miscarriage Thanks

The “A Man has arrived” gif might be the only way to go...

All female politicians must have a hide of a rhino. A lot of the criticism of some women in the public eye is based on misogyny. I am not saying that women should not face criticism but sometimes the criticism is harder because they want to pull the woman down as ell as making the point.

In a recent article Janet Street Porter criticised May's judgement, based on May's clothing. I thought JSP would be a feminist, I am guessing she was say she was, but judging a politician based on their clothing choices is childish and disappointing. Men do not face this. The most Cameron got was a sartorial dressing down based on his faded polo shirt on holiday, but his judgement was not called into question.

MargeB · 15/03/2019 16:54

With regards to May, I think its perfectly valid to attack her policies and actions, but not how she looks or her clothes. As a person, I think she's horrendous, but no more horrendous than IDS (who you rightly stated starting this whole UC fiasco).

In terms of bad press though, I think Corbyn has got far worse treatment from the media than May, even attacking his choice of clothing. Dont know how he can stand the amount of disgusting abuse he gets. I'd have a breakdown!
