Surprisingly for such a woke organisation it seems that all of their members may not be entirely happy with the situation. There have even been deletions Shock

Are there any of the "uniformed" orgs that are showing sense on this? How about boys and girls brigade (do they even exist any more?)

Oh also this utterly genius thread

I was in WCF as a child, although I also thought "they're so woke they'll be leading the charge" when I saw the thread but I can second a previous poster that there will be some feminist women involved that DO remember how far has feminism has come and how hard they have had to work to make that progress.

DS in Boys Brigade and I sometimes help out. I can't see them marching down the woke road. The church affiliation is stronger than Scouts and Guides etc. - expect bible stories and a prayer at a typical session.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 15/03/2019 11:46

I don't know why you are complaining. Bergdorf is the most amazing role model. They can teach all the little woodcraft kids:
Homophobic slurs
How to make racist comments and lose your job
And then show them the powers of sexy knickers and how that totally empowers women!

Amazing choice

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/03/2019 12:11

WTF?!

"If you are taking into consideration the needs of all members it can be very complex - as you state younger siblings some times like to share with older siblings. By simply separating boys and girls you are failing to recognise the sexuality of members and potential risks of both isolating individuals and missing others. It is wrong to assume only boys sexually abuse girls. Peer to peer abuse is common place as has been mentioned by other contributors to this thread."

Interested to see the Boys Brigade link - back a hundred years ago I was in the Girls Brigade and I loved it.

Yes, there was a lot of Christian content and I don't believe anymore but it turns out really handy when going round an art gallery - I know every religious story.

But we also did loads of other stuff and the leaders were great. There is nothing wrong with doing 'girly' stuff or 'girly' sports - I remember a lot of skipping, we were girls, we loved it and didn't want to do nasty camping in the cold. It's only the boys that had convinced us that they were lesser activities after all.

Funkaccino · 15/03/2019 12:31

one of the leaders at Beavers was telling a parent that actually their mixed sex children couldn't share a double sleeping bag because of the safe guarding policy. Despite being 6 years old.

Woodcraft folk is specifically saying they have to make things mixed sex so that children can share with siblings?

nicecheese · 15/03/2019 12:43

Have recently moved my daughters from Brownies to Woodcraft folk FFS Hmm

EcclesThePeacock · 15/03/2019 12:44

The very most that would require would be provision of some mixed sex accommodation if both the siblings and the parents wanted it.

Natsku · 15/03/2019 13:04

AnnaMagnani

I was in the Girl's Brigade too, definitely can't see them going the woke way.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/03/2019 15:39

Good stuff, someone's linked from the FB thread over to here accusing FWR of being 90% transphobic posts - hopefully that'll bring some more folk over here to read those transphobic posts and do some critical thinking...

How will this benefit children who don't conform to sex stereotypes? It won't.

There is nothing wrong with children who don't conform to sex stereotypes. They are not trans. They are healthy, normal children with healthy, normal interests and preferences.

Beamur · 15/03/2019 16:12

I haven't read the links. However, I thought the Woodcraft Folk were associated with the Communists (who are relatively GC)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/03/2019 16:15

Exactly. But teaching children that they can "be born in the wrong body" and it's always, always wrapped up in sexist stereotypes, means that non gender conforming children (ie most of them) may begin to think they are, or to be thought of as trans.

And that would be absolutely fine if trans was just a synonym for non gender conforming. But it's not, its social transition and binders, and blockers, and hormones and surgery, none of which are easily reversible if at all.

That's without the safeguarding implications, and the gaslighting and the erosion of girls boundaries.

Paris Lees as role model for girls and women? I don't fucking think so. More like a porn-addled AGP with a criminal record for a violent crime, I thought.

Or to quote Little OJ: "Paris Lees is one of the kindest, caring, loveliest, most intelligent women I've ever met."

Possibly tells you everything you know about OJ's judgement. Or perhaps he just doesn't know many women.

WCF really need to just lock / delete that thread. There's TRAs on there being really abusive and threatening to track people down and get them sacked.

OP posts:
Beamur · 15/03/2019 16:38

Or maybe they should leave them...

MilletSentToForceIt · 15/03/2019 16:40

“Irish Guides has a sexual assault case currently being processed.”
“TUSLA (Child Protection Agency) has issued a ban on all sleepover events.”

Is this verified? Old/recent? Has this been discussed on here and I’ve just missed it?

R0wantrees? Because.......This never happens!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/03/2019 16:40

Or maybe they should leave them...

You are probably right. It's very clear who is coming across as unhinged and who is coming across as calm and factual.

I found this but it's behind a paywall, and looks to be historical.

The answer is to work on boys and men and make clear that they must be tolerant of boys who wish to present themselves as female

ToeToToe · 15/03/2019 21:25

WCF really need to just lock / delete that thread. There's TRAs on there being really abusive and threatening to track people down and get them sacked.

Always the way They can't get away with this threatening shit forever. The tiding is turning. We see them.

ToeToToe · 15/03/2019 21:30

But it really is indicative of the maleness of this movement. For everybody reading this thread that may not be mumsnetters - the gender ideology movement is a male sexual rights lobby. It's not pleasant to come to this realisation - but I'm afraid it's true.

AnotherLass · 15/03/2019 21:37

I'm so proud of Woodies for having members who are engaging in critical thought on this! I went to Woodies as a kid

I thought the Woodcraft Folk were associated with the Communists

No, they've never been connected with the communists. They're left wing, but mostly connected with the co-op and peace movements. They have at different times had stronger or weaker links to the Labour Party, at least through shared members. They started after the 1st world war with the intention of providing a less militaristic alternative to the scouts.

BitchLasagne · 15/03/2019 21:39

I'm actually gobsmacked to find that I agree wholeheartedly with the Boys Brigade training on gender and sex, and think the Woodcraft Folk have lost the fucking plot.

And I'm a left wing atheist Shock

Beamur · 15/03/2019 21:53

I went as a kid too. But can't really remember very much about it!
