Does anyone know how National Citizens Service arranges accommodation on the residential aspect for 15-17 year olds?

www.ncsyes.co.uk

The register to enquire form does not ask Sex.

It asks Gender and lists 5 options:

Male,
Female,
Non-binary/third-gender,
Prefer not to say,
Prefer to self-describe

My husband takes a lot of NCS for the adventure weeks. They stay in male and female tents and anybody that doesn't fit into the main genders gets their own small tent the same as the camp leaders. This is what their NCS leaders have always wanted but not sure if it's a general ruling or not.

My understanding is that NCS is a contracted out, atomised service. You will have to find the contracted provider in your area and ask them. They may have different policies.

I have investigated this for my own DC.

It is assessed in a case by case basis, after medical forms are signed.

Each area is contracted to a different leisure business, as far as I'm aware, so you will indeed need to speak with your local provider.

But their national website does not have any impact assessments or safeguarding policies that I've been able to find, and their national number is staffed with people who have no idea how to answer such queries.

Thanks for the responses.

Lunches is that if separate accommodation is their preference? Do you know how they would deal with it if a participant wanted to be accommodated on the basis of gender identity with particpants if a different biological sex?

Lang and Call it is a bit strange that they don't have this already. If they have gone as far as deciding to gather gender (with an uncommon set of options) not sex, they would have a policy that covered how to handle accommodation and safeguarding of minors

Well, quite. The lack of robust procedures and policies may well open them up to liability concerns.
