Not sure if this has been mentioned before but the government led child abuse inquiry will focus on 3 case studies, one of which is the allowance of the Green Party to have David Challoner as an active member despite being charged of child sexual abuse.

It will also look at Home Office funding links with PIE

I wasn't aware they were focusing on the David Challoner case - pleased to see it will see more sunlight.

Good

Excellent.

A lot of sunlight is needed on what led to the Challenor situation.

Good news. And about bloody time. This man influenced safe-guarding policy in the girl guides and sports clubs - these policies are, I believe, still in place.

I am very glad to see this. Though the BBC report seems to have minimised Challoner’s crimes-(‘sexual assault’?).
Let’s hope that this investigation will bring very bright sunlight to bear on this whole awful episode.

Please spell his name correctly, it is 'David Challenor', father of 'Aimee Challenor'.

FWIW this was previously reported

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3409394-IICSA-will-examine-the-case-of-David-Challenor-and-how-he-was-able-to-continue-being-a-political-agent-for-Aimee?messages=100&pg=1

The BBC curiously manages to omit the name 'Aimee', though Aimee had agency in this.

Here's the transcript here:

www.iicsa.org.uk/key-documents/9640/view/public-hearing-transcript-4-march-2019.pdf

FWIW the IICSA also omit the word rape, though Challenor as in fact convicted of that offence among many others.

I'm reading Orwell's 1984 at the moment, and considering it was written in 1949, it is remarkably relevant today.

Rewriting history, even by omission, is worrying. When someone does an internet search on someone else's name, it's important that ALL the relevant facts are accessible.

Agreeing with ChattyLion and QuietContraryMary about how rape should have been included in the reports. To me, ‘sexual assault’ could be interpreted as referring to a one off episode. The shocking thing about this case is that David Challenor was convicted of multiple crimes, including rape, that took place over a period of time.
