Things seem to be hotting up in NZ with transgender issues, probably because the second reading of the BDMRR Bill is due soon.

SUFW website have posted an excellent article by a senior lawyer on transgender ideology and NZ law, which is very helpful in elaborating the concerns and pitfalls regarding self-ID.

Ani O'Brien has given another interview responding to an article by the NZ Privacy Commissioner supporting the idea of self ID, and accusing anyone who wants a fuller consultation as basically harming transgender people. The problem is that Mr Edwards wrote the article as the Privacy Commissioner, not as a private citizen with a trans child. As the latter he has every right to pen an op-ed, but he should not have used his title in the by-line of his article.

Ani was invited to speak on the issue by a well known journalist, and she does very well to dismiss some of Mr Edwards' assertions, and get it in a few thrusts of her own, in particular the fact that any hatred comes from the other side, not from SUFW.

The public meeting is next Tuesday evening. I am betting there will be some activists there but with Louisa Wall, the Labour MP taking part it may be more muted.
Ani managed to get in concerns about stats on crime and health being affected.

She spoke really well!

It's concerning the kiwi privacy commissioner thinks it's acceptable to do this. Personal and professional completely blurred.

It also worries me that he'd be pushing for previous names to be made completely private....

Keep fighting !
