Not sure if this has been posted?

This is in reference to the LGBT Youth guidelines that the children’s commissioner had previously endorsed.

I saw it on Transgendertrend. Basically it seems that the Scottish Government has told girls to ‘suck it up’. The majority of young people who identify as trans grow out of it so the teenage boy changing in the girls changing room will most likely be just that, a teenage boy. Laura Bates has done a great job of documenting the sexual harassment of girls in schools now they cannot even change in privacy. The Scottish Government doesn’t even want to conduct an assessment to see what issues there may be. Effectively it’s ‘gifls - we don’t give a shit about you’

Yes that's exactly what it is - a big FU girls!

Scotland is so busy clapping themselves on the back for being the most progressive, LGBT+ inclusive part of the UK they've failed to notice they've become the most misogynistic.

I hope the women & girls in Scotland manage to get this decision overturned-it is just rediculous to insist girls have to accept changing next to Male bodied boys who identify as girls.....

Shehimthey · 20/02/2019 19:24

Don’t hold your breath at getting this overturned. I dread my DD heading off to any of the Universities up here. I’m going to have to work so hard to look after my DD through her secondary school years. Am dreading it.

Yes scottish govt spokesperson can't even be bothered to use the word girls.

Male in female out
We must do as we are told and put up and shut up

We've only just started learning the full extent of sexual bullying in schools mainly male to female, which is a massive problem that facing requires facing up to a whole lot of stuff that is uncomfortable for a lot of people
It's far easier to take away the girls ability to tell / complain

You see we like to think people care but look at rotherham etc the way girls were treated, the attitude towards "groupies" (askign for it) etc and it's easy to see that the "authorities" like to keep things quiet and brush them under the carpet and blame the victims than actually face up to the problem

News story today about an 18yo boy who was convicted of sexually assaulting a female classmate, he is back at the school the girl and her family expected him to be excluded. They are understandably v unhappy.

If this was scotland he can now change with her & watch her get undressed, follow her into the toilets and other girls as long as he has said the magic words. Because he is female. Any girls who feel uncofomfrotbale with this would have to go elsewhere.

The fact they have put him back in the school > which often happens even with rape, shows which "side" the authorities are on.

Girls just still aren't worth very much. Not compared to boys.

Scottish Govt says: "As this is not a Scottish Government publication, it would be inappropriate for the Scottish Government to undertake any review. The guidance is one of a range of tools available to schools and education authorities in their support for transgender pupils."

So government is saying it does not "own" this guidance. This means all schools can ignore it since it is only guidance. There is nothing mandatory about it in any way.

Parents need to campaign locally at each school to ensure the dignity, privacy and safety of their daughters.

What a cowardly govt Scotland has.

Egalia · 20/02/2019 21:49

The Scottish government response is appalling.

If it’s inappropriate for the government to review the guidance, how can it possibly be appropriate for them to publicly support it?

That’s like Barry Norman recommending a film that he hasn’t even seen.
