The biggest eyeroll.

How about defending the definition of 'woman' to only include uh..women?

Do you think he will EVER backtrack??? Is he backtracking now????

OP posts:
BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 17/02/2019 20:28

i'm not sure what he thought would happen when he asked that question

Knicknackpaddyflak · 17/02/2019 20:31

Gawd Fionne is great. Grin

Mumfun · 17/02/2019 20:36

He may backtrack eventually but women wont ever forget how he undermined us, fuelled misogyny and was generally a complete arse

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 17/02/2019 20:42

Fionne, you are terrific.

To answer Wee Owen's question: dealing with morons like you.

He will backtrack eventually but will try to obscure the backtrack by "discovering" all on his lonesome how homophobic transgender ideology is. He will unmask it all with him cast as the hero of the hour (despite Julie Bindel talking about it for decades).

And he will further try to muddy the waters by blaming all women for not raising the homophobia aspect sooner. Or in the correct manner. Or not being polite enough. Or being too polite. Or not having enough respect for gay men or something.

Tosser.

FloralBuntingIsObnoxious · 17/02/2019 21:03

Who gives a shit if the man rows back? There's plenty of decent men who have stood up for women when the brickbats flew, why would I give a fuck if this snotty egotist deigned to agree that women have the rights they already won? He can get tae fuck.

zanahoria · 17/02/2019 21:09

Blimey, this and Martina on one day, its like GC christmas.

KataraJean · 17/02/2019 21:14

Why does he not do some research? There are a multitude of books, articles and websites on the subject. What is he actually going to do about any of it, except maybe write some newspaper columns and increase his own profile?

Fionne is spot on. Brilliant response.

LOL

Does anyone know who @choochoohime is apart from being an American? (The person accusing Debbie of being a TERF)

I actually agree with them regarding the existence and nature of systematic oppression. One could argue it applies to female trans allies who work towards removing females sex based rights. They also say that there’s just 3 trans people in the "whole world" that are rejecting the abolition of sex based rights! 🤥 I can’t believe they don’t know that there’s WAY more. Twitter really is full of LOUD con men.

Just the fact that people bring trans rights up as soon as the question of women comes up is starting to really piss me off. Only because the same is virtually never done to men. Trans people can be male or female so why only challenge women to deal with it all?

I think I’m going to try to avoid Twitter! Bah humbug!

Peace ✌️

Jones blocks GC accounts so it's unlikely that he's in the loop.

I bet that a particular message is just filtering through to him: that a tranche of dependable women have moved out of the Labour, Tory, Lib Dem and Green Parties, and are no longer available to do the the heavy lifting at local level.

Funny that the penny only drops when there are just under 12 weeks to go before the local council elections.

GGMummy3 · 17/02/2019 23:52

He must have most of Twitter blocked then if he's read the comments under The Guardian article on Martina Navratilova Grin #owensechochamber

@choochoohime has actually removed their Twitter comments now. Well the ones I refer to here. Just shows that it's worth calling these con men out!

LangCleg · 18/02/2019 08:49

Owen's going to be too busy to worry about the wimlins today.

He'll be wrong side of history-ing in an entirely different direction.

OlennasWimple · 18/02/2019 09:02

The replies are wonderful

As an aside, can anyone explain the pensions issue for women born in the 1950s? It comes up on there a number of times, but shamefully because a) it doesn't directly affect and and b) not being in the UK means I miss out on a lot of news that isn't front and centre, I wasn't aware of this.

I tried to do a MN search to see if there was a thread on FWR already, but you know how useless the MN search function is (top hit was a thread from 2006....)

Bowlofbabelfish · 18/02/2019 09:07

Women born in a narrow band of years fall foul of the increase in pension collecting age. So women born one year apart can face a difference of a few years in when they can claim their pensions. It’s very unfair

hackmum · 18/02/2019 09:09

And it's also the fact that they weren't informed of it. They went on thinking that they'd be collecting their state pension at 60, not realising they were going to have to work for another six years - so they didn't make alternative plans.

zanahoria · 18/02/2019 09:11

he's like a modern day version of Rik from The Young Ones

AncientLights · 18/02/2019 09:18

Re state pension age: it was delayed twice for one group of women, me among them. The whole thing has been handled appallingly and I had 2yr 5mth notice that I would have to wait an extra 6yr for it. That means I lost out on almost £50K of pension payments, an amount it was impossible to make up by working more etc.

joan45 · 18/02/2019 09:19

@Floral - I just look forward to him realising he has been supporting a sexist, homophobic human rights travesty.

joan45, yes, granted, it will be enjoyable to watch his 'Portillo losing the election' moment.
