Scottish Government is consulting on Hate Crime including if gender identity should include intersex. Stonewall have given them advice. ‘Sex’ is replaced with ‘gender’. Please respond - the deadline is 24 Feb.

They are scientifically illiterate. Intersex conditions are NOTHING to do with being transgender.

The ONLY people who should’ve been consulted about this are people with actual intersex conditions, patient groups, families and researchers.
For TRA to conflate these defined medical conditions with being transgender is disgraceful.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 17/02/2019 17:17

Quite.

Completed. They really haven’t a clue. I have voted SNP for as long as I have had a vote, but this shower have me planning to spoil my ballot paper.
I work in Criminal Justice, so it will be interesting to see what happens. What I know is that the workers on the frontline don’t follow the woke bullshit, because we are trained to assess risk, and we can see the risks right in front of us.

Absolutely! They of course BOTH be included but each in their own right.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 18/02/2019 17:38

Boosting - we need to counter Stonewall’s narrative.

Completed. Objected to use of gender instead of sex. Pointed out that intersex and trans are wholly unrelated.

Asked what misogyny meant and pointed out the recent case where a man had been prosecuted for harassment of a “woman” would have had a different outcome if the woman in question had been a woman...

KingLooieCatz · 19/02/2019 11:57

The attempt in the document to clarify what was meant by "gender" by referring to Lord Bracadale's report didn't get me any further forward, I've e-mailed asking them to clarify.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 24/02/2019 13:58

Closes today!

Whats the best way to answer this?

There is a current narrative that there is rising level of transphobia in UK as a consequence of 'transphobic hot beds' such as Mumsnet etc & Conservatve Govt not implementing self-id GRA
The police data of reported transphobic 'hate crimes' will be used to validate this. So too data from Social Media, Guardian etc

Times article by Elizabeth Burden January 24 2019
'Principal backs transgender students over ‘hurtful’ stickers'
(extract)
She claimed that transgender activists encouraged people to report individual stickers as hate crimes to maximise the number of alleged offences. On Facebook last November, James Morton, the Scottish Trans Alliance (STA) manager, responding to a comment on the Edinburgh stickers, said: “Please log it by reporting on the Police Scotland online hate crime form. We need the stats.” Vic Valentine, a policy officer for STA, said: “If people feel distressed by transphobic stickers, we encourage them to report [it] to police. We want to improve trans people’s confidence in approaching the police.”

Kai O’Doherty, the Edinburgh University Students’ Association’s vice-president for welfare, said the stickers were “not only hurtful to trans people, but are clear violations of policies against harassment and discrimination”. (continues)

Thanks for this.
I hadn't seen it.

You don't have to answer all the questions.
A wee browse of the police Scotland hate crime website might bring you up to speed if needed.

done, that was hard work. Think I ended up arguing against the existence of the Equality Act and any protected characteristics
