can you help me? the domestication of women

Hello, I've been a lurker on these boards for a while but a few things have stung me into action I should have taken ages ago. I read all the feminist books when I was a teenager (sometime ago...) but am now behind the times. So can you help with two questions. Firstly, what are the two or three books or blogs I should read, right now?

Secondly, in researching something else altogether, I ended up reading - and this was just a passing aside in an argument - the idea that women were also domesticated at the same time as cows and sheep and pigs. So the onset of farming radically changed how women lived and was the beginning of the patriarchy. Does anyone know any more about this? Are there other historians/researchers/feminists working in this area? Can I find out any more.

Thanks in advance.

Onsen
the idea that women were also domesticated at the same time as cows and sheep and pigs. So the onset of farming radically changed how women lived and was the beginning of the patriarchy

I've been thinking about this as well.
It's a strange thought isn't it?
Archaeological evidence of early towns (Catal Hoyuk)sp? suggests dwellings that have small box like rooms.
This struck me as the people were trapped by their lifestyle.
A few random points that cross my mind, in no particular order,

-it involves lower classes, slaves.
-Domesticity is a word that is used both for farm animals and human households.
-Being stuck at home with kids is still a thing.
-Beginnings of organised religion.
-The Greeks thought women were a different species and organised society around men.
-Use of fertility as a valuable resource, even currency.
-Freedom of the rich to control this resource with organised religion and power
-Some males bred to participate in fighting.
-Females are kidnapped and males are killed.
-Women are trapped with their young, increasing their chance of survival by being compliant and docile.
-Remnants of visceral anger and rage emerges where someone or something threatens their young.
-Once money comes into the equation, women get fucked over because for them, being pregnant and looking after children takes priority.
I did say randomSmile

Mummy's baby, daddy's maybe.
Men don't like this fact.
It is the strength we still have.

To your first: invisible women

Oh lord, women wern't domesticated by men! Women took care of the househoild as life was extremely difficult throughout history and that was the most econical and viable way to bring up a family.

Most of the employment was tough manual labour and so men would do that. Do you think crawling through a dark wet mine tunnel every morning just before you started a grueling and dangerous 8 hour shift chiselling coal before crawling back then walking 5 miles home was really something set up by the patriarchy to 'benefit' men.

The fact that women were expected to stay at home was actually a BENEFIT to women rather than a hindrance.
