YouGov - bye bye

I've occasionally filled in YouGov surveys, especially political ones. I haven't done any for a while but did one this morning.

At the end it asked me my gender. "Female (including transwomen)" was one option. I filled in "other" and wrote "female not including transwomen".

It's plain daft to think that women and transwomen have similar opinions on all the things yougov survey about. I would have thought it was more important to survey accurately including the differences than pretending they are the same and will have the same opinions.

I filled in one survey about sanitary protection - what transwoman would have an opinion on that?

Is this a thin end of the wedge thing or am I particularly grumpy this morning?

My latest YouGov one was an improvement. Two part question:

At birth were you described as: male, female, intersex, prefer not to say.

Which of the following describes how you see yourself: male, female, in another way, prefer not to say.

I did have to correct them for stating gender (rather than sex) is a protected characteristic though.

I got given a feedback form with that option in the sodding labour ward, about 4 hours after giving birth Hmm

Baffled 🤣

Queen I’d like to think this was a response to feedback, but it may depend upon who commissions the individual surveys. It’s always about the money isn’t it?

They probably have accurate data about the % of Respondents who are Mumsetterd.

That sounds much better Queen

I completed a YouGov survey today, one of the questions asked me the gender of my children.

At the end of the survey I filled in the anything further to add box, asking why they had not asked for which sex they are.
I also said that i am surprised that people are afraid to use that meaning of sex (male/female) when the alternative meaning (sexual intercourse) is forced down our throats 24/7 🙄

I do not expect a response
