Anyone listening? I'm in a situation where I can't turn it up, but he's interviewing a transwoman (with a very male voice, who insists they were born a girl) I didn't catch who it is, but it's a classic late stage transitioner, who married and was 'very sad' 🙄

I feel, in spite of the very sympathetic platform, a whole swathe of the nation is about to be peaked...

Jeremy - beautiful 🤦‍♀️

Kedgeree · 08/02/2019 13:32

One of them is denying any sexual attraction to other men - not sure which one it is. Latest one is claiming that he was born a woman, apart from the "birth defect". Hmm.

littlbrowndog · 08/02/2019 13:32

So inspiring

littlbrowndog · 08/02/2019 13:33

Why is Jeremy treating them like they made of China

Helmetbymidnight · 08/02/2019 13:34

urgh- that was bizarre.

littlbrowndog · 08/02/2019 13:35

So was
Weird

Hamster00 · 08/02/2019 13:36

I particularly like the way Ann was being the "expert" and taking calls, but was (mid-way) at best through the process....

It just struck me as a backpatting "good for you old chap" session.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/02/2019 13:36

What was the point of that? It just sort of stopped!!!

WhatHaveYou · 08/02/2019 13:37

Why is Jeremy treating them like they made of China

He can't think of anything worse than loss of penis. Probably thinks they have an inverted penis.

Helmetbymidnight · 08/02/2019 13:37

maybe jeremys building up to telling us something? Grin

he was even more suchophantic than usual. it was an odd puff piece for self indulgent middle aged men.

littlbrowndog · 08/02/2019 13:38

Yeah hamster
And here’s Jeremy now just tellin* how beautiful it was

Weird the whole thing

Helmetbymidnight · 08/02/2019 13:38

wasnt that brilliant and inspiring bobby?

littlbrowndog · 08/02/2019 13:40

Why did he not just treat them as ordinary people who might have something to say instead of being so so erm sycophants tic

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/02/2019 13:41

And Bobby said it was .... extraodinary

littlbrowndog · 08/02/2019 13:44

But Jeremy could have really explored this. In a good way but it just feel he went about it in a very patronising way to the ppl he was interviewing
Brave stunning beautiful.
That’s not an interview

Hamster00 · 08/02/2019 13:55

....just feel he went about it in a very patronising way to the ppl he was interviewing

It didn't help the people he was interviewing were walking stereotypes though. They were all clones and just incredibly.... well... "boring".

It just reeked of AGP though, that Nikki who said "...people tell me I look much better as a woman" . Very telling.....

littlbrowndog · 08/02/2019 13:57

Ooooh
Yes they were boring and joyless

littlbrowndog · 08/02/2019 13:58

And stereotypes

AbsintheFriends · 08/02/2019 17:45

On a (very) slightly related note, has anyone listened to a programme called Agendum on Radio 4? It was on this morning (11.30 I think) and I caught the last 20 minutes or so in the car. It's comedy/news satire and I'm not sure if it was just me, but lots of the content seemed to be metaphors for gender issues.

The bits I heard were a piece about changing the rules of qualification for the athletics world championships to include everyone, even non-athletes, a bit with a woke tv critic character calling a series about stairs being 'fascist' because it should include at least one episode on ramps, and a bit about practical jokes being used by the army instead of torture ('literal violence'/men fear being laughed at etc)

Anyway, could just be me but it seemed like a very subtle satire on gender wokeness. Some of it made me wince, but I did laugh in places too.

A lot of fuss was made about how Anns wife was unsupportive. I hope Ann got support. It must have been really upsetting for her. There was no consideration or acknowledgment about how she might have been feeling. All me, me, me. You'd have thought Jezza could have defended her a little bit.

donajimena · 08/02/2019 18:21

*Anns wife got support!

MsTSwift · 08/02/2019 18:26

I wish they had interviewed the wife and daughter. Bet their side of it rather different. Very odd interview dynamic though fawning over each other. Turned on halfway through sounded like men talking couldn’t work out what the topic was at first I thought the interviewee must have been a celebrity or person who had done something interesting.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 08/02/2019 18:28

A lot of fuss was made about how Anns wife was unsupportive.

Lots of male people think that women are there to provide a role for them. If she's not supportive, what use is she?

ScipioAfricanus · 08/02/2019 18:31

This was on when I was at a friend’s house and led to my first real life GC comment on the subject apart from with close family.

I didn’t take it too far because my friend is having a tough time and so I was trying to keep conversation quite light, but it was a good place to start.

Thanks Jeremy!

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/02/2019 22:05

AbsintheFriends I heard Agendum too and thought the same as you. I was quite encouraged by it.

Jeremy Vine, on the other hand...
