I couldn't find a thread on this, sorry of there is one.

Now get on with some real police work.

I hear there's a cart stuck in the water at Flatford Mill.

nauticant · 05/02/2019 14:52

Hahahah. That's even a reference to a Constable!

Weezol · 05/02/2019 16:04

Good news.

Melroses · 05/02/2019 16:06

www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_suffolk

It made the 3pm and 4pm bulletins - top story.

Datun · 05/02/2019 16:35

At last.

Yes, it's not a good look hassling an upstanding citizen in her 70s, for blogging reality and discussing an upcoming proposal to change a law that impacts women. (That the government themselves are encouraging people to talk about.)

And the more people who refuse to roll over, the more these complaints look ridiculous and deliberate.

Good for you Margaret Nelson.

Cheers Wine

Needmoresleep · 05/02/2019 16:41

BBC not brave enough to repeat any of the posts.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 05/02/2019 16:47

Good. Very pleased to read this.

LizzieSiddal · 05/02/2019 16:49

I hope other Police authorities are taking note that pandering to these malicious idiots, does not end well.

The public will not stand for it.

Melroses · 05/02/2019 17:08

Well, it was top of the 5pm news. On NOW

Melroses · 05/02/2019 17:09

Meanwhile the BBC website has Seal bite 'could have killed porpoise

nauticant · 05/02/2019 17:24

That a hot mess of assuming animals' species.

littlbrowndog · 05/02/2019 17:25

Haha

ImPreCis · 05/02/2019 17:30

SO there was ONE complaint about Margaret’s blog post, which was looked at, discussed, there was a decision that a crime had been commited, an officer was given the task of contacting Margaret. They have since gone back and looked again and decided that no crime was commited.

But they are not wasting police time!

Although I do think it is good that a police officer was prepared to go onto the programme to explain the process and to admit that they had got it wrong.

Margaret, you were fantastic on this! 💐

VickyEadie · 05/02/2019 17:34

As we all know, what's very galling about this is the fact that people who have suffered genuine crimes - such as assaults, burglaries, etc - are often fobbed off by the police who don't even bother investigating at all.

theOtherPamAyres · 05/02/2019 17:51

Suffolk Police are Stonewall Diversity Champions.

They've had the Stonewall Training and have access to Stonewall's resources and updates.

Will the Chief Constable acknowledge that the training was not fit for purpose and has had a damaging impact on police-public relations and confidence?

Datun · 05/02/2019 17:55

Will the Chief Constable acknowledge that the training was not fit for purpose and has had a damaging impact on police-public relations and confidence?

They are going to have to do if this keeps up. How many is that the last couple of weeks? Five?

Keep it coming. It's just destroying the credibility of transactivists on a daily basis. Well that and the newly re-circulated lies about feminists putting razorblades under stickers. Ffs. Idiots.

LizzieSiddal · 05/02/2019 18:27

I keep thinking of the poor women who have been stalked, outed and threatened on Twitter, they've made numerous complaints to the police and nothing is done. Angry.

I think we need to start playing TRA's at their own game. Are we able to mass report this kind of thing to the police, or does it have to be the person involved?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 05/02/2019 20:17

Good.

OvaHere · 05/02/2019 20:31

I think we need to start playing TRA's at their own game. Are we able to mass report this kind of thing to the police, or does it have to be the person involved?

What we are up against is that misogyny is not one of the hate crime classifications - it's this that has allowed TRAs to weaponise the police.

It was discussed by some MPs last year that misogyny should also be a hate crime classification.

Should that happen then it's a massive free for all and the Police won't know if they're coming or going stuck between transphobic women who believe penises are male and misogynistic TRAs who want to re-educate said women with their lady sticks.

Literally every twitter convo on this subject will become a hate crime on all sides.

Personally I think the concept of hate crime as it currently stands is massively flawed and needs looking at again.

AnyOldPrion · 05/02/2019 21:32

This. Given that DARVO is well recognised, the current definition of hate crime is an invitation to abusers who can “identify” themselves into one of the protected categories.

Datun · 05/02/2019 21:41

an invitation to abusers who can “identify” themselves into one of the protected categories.

This.

Coupled with normal discrimination being redefined to mean denial of reality.

AngryAttackKittens · 05/02/2019 23:01

The wheels really do come of the bullying bus as soon as someone refuses the back down, don't they? Which is why people need to keep doing just that.

Hard to look stunning and brave when you're trying to use the police to bully a pensioner.

PencilsInSpace · 05/02/2019 23:09

Great news!

Yes I think the main reason misogyny is not already a hate crime is because they know they wouldn't be able to cope with the sheer volume of reports.

Bring it on! I think this would be the best way of securing a rethink of the concept of hate crime and its sinister Big Brother - 'hate incident'.

Thingybob · 05/02/2019 23:55

This report was released today. I haven't read it properly but it doesn't appear to suggest any U turn on hate crime. There is a big section on the "intra-community tension between certain sections of the LGBT+ community, with sections of the wider female population also involved"

It also includes the obligatory quote

“almost half of transgender school pupils (45%) in the UK have attempted suicide"

AngryAttackKittens · 05/02/2019 23:58

I think it's starting to dawn on the police that there's very little public support for them rebranding themselves as the thought police, especially while failing to attend to burglaries etc at such high rates. It's an adding insult to injury situation when you can't get them to come out to what would traditionally have been considered a crime scene but they seem to feel they have more than enough resources to police free speech on the internet.
