Steamfan At least rape is now a war crime. I remember watching a documentary on the fall of Berlin. The women said, "it wasn't a question of were you raped, it was how many times". Women have been raped all through the centuries by invading forces.
My father was in Berlin at the end of the war as part of the British Army. He did not approve of his fellow soldier's actions with regard to the women. The weren't raped but obviously gave sexual favours for food as they and their children were in desperate straits. I remember him telling me he was very upset at the plight of the children. It has always angered me that women's and girl's bodies were seen as automatically available in war time. (Other times too of course). The term 'comfort women' to describe the forced incarceration and daily rape of Asian women by the Japanese Army during WW2 angers me immensely. I think they were mainly Korean but I know other nationalities were enslaved also. I must admit at times, I hate the male species.
