USA hockey new gender policy

This applies to Ice hockey, which is obviously a very physical sport.

To compete in most forms of girls hockey, including school teams, a boy just needs a letter from parent & health care provider. However for the highest Tier 1, and Tier 2, 1 year of hormone suppression is required

NBs are included, so you don't have to identify as a girl to go on the girls team. If you can find a doctor who studied at the school of woke bullshit and hurt feelings, rather than a medical school of hard science and data, and he signs you off as NB, then you can also play with the girls.

For adult hockey, a male can identify onto the women's team without any testosterone suppression - you just need to identify as a lady.

In order to make transgender players feel comfortable, USA hockey advises that you should ban everyone on a team that has a transgender player from taking their clothes off - players should arrive in a base layer, and if they need to take their clothes off they should do it in a private room only.

You are also advised that if you have switched genders you won't be able to switch again for at least another three years! This may discriminate against people who identify as gender fluid!

This is just a total nonsense. Why do they think there is separate men's/women's physical contact sports in the first place? Are they really saying that simply feeling that you are woman removes all of risk and advantage that men have over women? It's sexist bullshit.

boatyardblues · 25/01/2019 22:31

It shouldn’t take long for the first lawsuits from seriously injured female players to start rolling in. At which point, I suspect the policy will be reviewed on financial grounds.

OlennasWimple · 25/01/2019 22:40

I'm fine with the base layer stuff - IIRC that's what players tend to do anyway, except at elite levels where there are great facilities.

The rest of it is saying that they don't give a crap about the physical safety of women, never mind their ability to rise to the top in a sport

I'm going to guess that Canada won't be far behind with a similar policy

GrinitchSpinach · 25/01/2019 22:41

This is dangerous, full stop.

userschmoozer · 25/01/2019 22:47

Women have already been harmed in sport; Fallon Fox and Hannah Mouncey have both caused broken bones.

We really need to stop thinking 'when it goes X far, then people will see this for what it really is'. Everything you can think of as the worst thing that can happen to women has already happened. Its not going to make them reconsider the change to policy, because harm caused to women isn't a consideration.

Not to mention the joy of changing and showering with the women and girls.

Again.
