Apparently this is a thing.

There is no scientifcally backed evidence that says parsley can induce menstruation

Sorry, JY.

Those prone to plant allergies have been known to break out in chives

Isn't it lovely and oh so hilarious to live in an age where one doesn't have to turn to herbal remedies to end an unwanted pregnancy? How positively rib-tickling to think of a world where a woman does not have any autonomy over her own body and doesn't have to poke greens up her fanjo to ward off pregnancy. Hmm

Purplewithgreenspots · 19/01/2019 00:13

fernie of course we’re lucky to live somewhere that this kind of advice can be laughed at. But we are capable of laughing and taking it seriously. It is dreadful that any woman or girl should only have this kind of thing to try.

I worry that this article while not helpful or safe is try to plug the internation gap of accessible, safe and timely terminations. It’s shocking in 2019 that women is so called developed country don’t have this. I am looking at you Ireland, USA and the rest of the UK.

ImPreCis · 19/01/2019 08:52

Sarahjconnor I was in Waitrose yesterday and without one of the 100 or so shopping bags that clutter up my home, I was forced to purchase a 5p one, clearly I should have thought outside the box, or bag.

Someone who I knew a while back was a chemist and they had a recipe for a tea made of parsley and some other herbs that was 'guaranteed to bring on the menses'. I believe the parsley was dried in the recipe. She had all the ingredients and was fairly sure it would work if she should get pregnant. She lived in the US. Just to be clear, one drank the tea. It wasn't a douche or a pessary.

CesiraAndEnrico · 19/01/2019 09:08

but I never heard that parsley is one of them

Parsley is referred to as a common method of inducing abortion in this story of a woman's death

CesiraAndEnrico · 19/01/2019 09:10

Ok that link keeps jump starting into a spammy pop up after a few minutes of being left idle so don't click.

But there are numerous hits for parsley in vagina as natural abortion. So it does appear to be a thing.

Pretty horrified a mainstream magazine is publishing stuff alluding to a diy termination. As in because of the risk to women health I have no issue with women choosing to terminate a pregnancy
