We have had a unisex changing village for a couple of years. I use it for swimming at least a couple of times a week and have always felt safe. There is strictly no nakedness outside cubicles, always loads of staff around and importantly you can go into a female only showering area with cubicles and a closed door. There is also single sex toilets.
I think one of the benefits is a parent can take their opposite sex child in with them. Once my nephew got to the age where he was a bit old for the female changing room but too young to feel comfortable with letting him using the male facilities alone it was a problem. The same would happen with a male carer and female child, my dad used to have to take me into the male changing rooms which I hated.
The area for kids changing after lessons and swimming club is separate from main changing room.
What I hate is the fact they have made the health suite (jacuzzi, sauna etc)mixed sex only. I just don't want to be in such close proximity to almost naked men. I've noticed there are very few women use it now, and I wonder if that is the reason. They used to have a mix of male, female or mixed sessions and I would be happier with that.
I have had a single bad experience in there where a man was verbally inappropriate with me and it makes me really wary.
