Has anyone heard of this? 1000 children.
The Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Study (Dunedin Study) is an ongoing, longitudinal study of the health, development and well-being of a general sample of New Zealanders. They were studied at birth (1972-73), followed up and assessed at the age of three when the longitudinal study was established. Since then they have been assessed every two years until the age of 15, then at ages 18 (1990-91), 21 (1993-94), 26 (1998-99), 32 (2003-2005), and 38 (2010-2012). The Study members are currently being assessed at age 45 (2017-2019) and it is hoped to continue further assessments in the future.

This current study should be interesting hopefully.

The Next Generation Study
The purpose of the Next Generation Study is to look at the lifestyles, behaviours, attitudes and health of today's teenagers, and see how they have changed from when our original Dunedin Study Members were 15 (in 1987-88).

Nothing really current in any of the published studies re transgender; a bit about sexuality and gender. But that should change amonst this present crop of teens, when results are collated, surely?

Hi yeah My sister Illyria47and I saw an exhibition on this study at the Toitu settlers Museum here in Dunedin a couple of years ago I think.
I also recall a fascinating TV documentary on the work of the unit a while ago.
As you say it will be interesting to see what the latest results will be, and if gender issues are raised.

Yes, it'll be interesting to see where the sudden outbreak of transgenderism starts and whether it's clustered and what those who catch the contagion have in common.

KittiesInsane · 14/01/2019 10:41

But you'd expect 0--1 trans teenagers in a sample that size, surely, so it wouldn't tell you much.

Yeahnahyeah · 14/01/2019 10:50

kitties yes, but I suspect there will be a far higher number.

The Dunedin Study is fascinating and very famous.
The TV series about it is fascinating.
