If you haven't heard of Alok, they are a friend of Travis Alabanza They are also a performance artist and are GNC. A friend of mine posted something Alok had posted on IG in solidarity with their suffering, basically, and it interested me.
The post was a picture of themselves in a pink bikini. They said the photo had been empowering to take and that it hurt that people were using it to ridicule them. They've been sent threats.

Now whilst no one deserves to be threatened and certainly not for being gender non-conforming, I'm interested that Alok has had such huge outpouring of support and attention. It fascinates me in the first place that the most empowering thing Alok could think to do was wear a feminine sexy outfit. It just shows how much people have absorbed the current message that the female body is (supposedly) one's greatest currency and the ultimate thing one can display to get status 
. Also is speaks volumes that to Alok, they ridicule they have experienced for what is, let's face it, a fairly inflammatory photo, is a severe form of oppression, with the trans ideology generally supporting the notion that society must be dismantled and changed to protect victims of it. Never mind things like child rape or fgm or domestic abuse, which really gets very little attention online. Never mind, too that Alok is an extremely hairy and very male looking individual who doesn't in all honesty look good in the clothing they've chosen to wear however kind one is trying to be (more than that I actually think they look pretty intimidating. From where I'm sitting anyway)
I just thought his post was worth a share. It does raise issues about how people perceive women in society and what is valued about us.
