Nauticant thanks for that link! Fascinating that Wikipedia is showing the old definition/entry & the new one - written just days ago, on 4 Jan 2019 - side by side. It's such a good example of the way TRAs are constantly manipulating language, changing definitions, & shifting goal-posts to sow confusion & get everyone else to fear saying the wrong thing.

I found it hilarious that TRA transwomen actually went to Wikipedia & insisted they change the "cotton ceiling" page to make it clear that it refers to transwomen's underwear, not the underwear of the lesbians transwomen are always trying to bully into having sex with them. These guys always have to be centered, don't they? It's always all about them. (Them & their fucking fetishes for wearing ladies undergarments coz that's what makes their dicks hard. Sheesh.)

However, I was disturbed by the deeper implications of the new definition. Used to be, the cotton ceiling was seen as a barrier protecting lesbians from the sexual incursions of transwomen, & that definition of the term implicitly portrayed the transwomen as interlopers & aggressors. But the new definition makes the cotton ceiling seem like it's another oppressive barrier that transphobic "cis" people, in this case specifically lesbians, have cruelly imposed on transwomen to deprive them of their rights & make their lives miserable.

Soon enough we'll probably be told that "not cottoning to" the sexual demands transwomen make of lesbians is "literal violence" just like misgendering. Fortunately, we women have "cottoned on" to what these guys are doing.

Yes, it's not often you can see the actual workings of a clerk/editor in the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth.

nauticant That Wikipedia page has disappeared! In the new one, the TRAs' views come out on top. Surprise, surprise.

Anyone can make wiki edits though, right? So they are not known for their reliability.
I would never rely on wiki for actual facts.
Sadly kids probably do.

Yes, the Wikipedia cotton ceiling page is currently unprotected, so anyone can edit it.

Also, I was mistaken when I said the side-by-side version that nauticant originally linked to had "disappeared". I should've said it's been displaced. It still can be seen by clicking on the "view history" box in the right upper corner:

A NYTimes columnist who is transgender has written a response to the WSJ article on ROGD:

www.nytimes.com/2019/01/08/opinion/trans-teen-transition.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage#commentsContainer

Edit the definition of cotton ceiling to the correct meaning. We know what it means. Dont let them do this bullish ir. Truth matters

nauticant · 09/01/2019 08:07

The writer of the NYT piece, Jennifer Finney Boylan, is 60. It looks like they came out as transgender in their 40s after having been married and having 2 kids.

They rely on their trans identity for their livelihood.

The piece says ROGD is a political term, it comes from the right, and is fictional. Their counter-argument seems to be that it can't be true because it's not kind.

I came across this USA-based website I'd not seen before, by & for parents of ROGD youth. I've not read through it in entirety, & don't know who's behind it, but at first glance it looks like a useful GC resource:
