Reddit moved to ban criticism of the trans movement

Context:
Reddit has had forums on anything and everything in the past including underage girls, Nazism etc. Slowly they have moved to ban paedophilia and hate speech

The bans have left the gendercritical forum as prime target to be banned , and it is listed prominently among hate sites activists want banned along with far right, Donald Trump etc.

Now several posts have been removed there for naming a Canadian transgender paedophile and his transgender associates who campaign against rape shelters, for s&m in women's marches and other behaviour informed by their visceral hatred of women. Not only that, the poster has been permanently banned from Reddit.

Such bans and removals are an essential precursor to permament banning of the whole community something which is inevitable given the woke bro community on Reddit. This follows bans on similar content on Twitter, WordPress and others as well as arrests, injunctions, human rights tribunals other acts by child abusers, trolls and other unsavoury individuals. The intention is to silence and criminalise all criticism on all content

I am astounded there are so many men who truly seem to believe women are incapable of independent thought.

That's why this site is so dangerous, not only is it full of women thinking, it's full of women doing unwoman like things like drinking and swearing. It goes against the stereotypes and command chain.

And yet REddit hosts r/transpassing where people post pictures of themselves (including fairly intimate bits of themselves) to ask the internet to decide "Do I pass?"

(Spoiler alert: the real answer is usually "no", but the post replies are usually "yes! You're so cute!"")

BlooperReel · 19/12/2018 13:20

CaptainKirksSpookyGhost that's exactly it, they cannot stand/tolerate any female with a smidgeon of intellect.

Arkengarthdale · 19/12/2018 13:36

Don't know anything about Reddit except what I've read in here, but clicked that transpassing link just to see. I was surprised how many there were. Why are so many young people effing up their bodies and their reproductive systems (I know the two things are linked Wink)? What the buggery bollocks are they all getting out of this? I just can't understand. Are they all inadequate young men who aren't very good at anything and not attractive to either sex thinking it'll be easier to be a 'cute' girl? (A certain student springs to mind). I just don't get it

Olenna If you really want to see something, order by controversial rather than new or popular... you may need Gin though.

This is but the latest iteration of the very worrying global trend to silence gender critical women, and of a specific... effort, I'll say... to scrub the internet of critical mentions of JY, the person bringing multiple human rights tribunal complaints against Canadian estheticians who declined to wax JY's male genitalia.

I am trying to be extremely cautious with language here because JY has been successful in getting many major sitesmost notoriously Twitter in the case of Meghan Murphy's permanent ban and Wordpress in the case of the deletion of GallusMag's entire GenderTrender-to utterly erase criticism of JY and deplatform JY's female critics.

Would actually appreciate some guidance from @MNHQ regarding what we are and are not allowed to say re: JY, as other sites' admins have banned users even when moderators didn't believe posters had breached any rule.

Mumsnetters pointed me to the GenderCritical subreddit a while ago when I asked where to find more American content, and I've found it very informative.

Besides being more (though not exclusively) American and Canadian, I think the demographic there skews younger than Mumsnet. This translates into a lot of very moving first-hand testimony from female detransitioners and from young lesbians being pressured to take "girldick" as well as all the other garden-variety misogyny women experience.

I find the Reddit visual format really cluttered and off-putting, but it's worth visiting for the content.

GlitterStick · 19/12/2018 22:37

Ok, I don't get this post.
"Reddit used to allow talk about anything, but have felt moved to ban paedophilia and hate speech."
Good! That's a good thing! Or do you mean remove hate but only if it's not my hate?

ChattyLion · 19/12/2018 22:54

Genderhammer.com is a newish site specifically for discussion of gender critical stuff

QuietContraryMary · 19/12/2018 23:53

"Good! That's a good thing! Or do you mean remove hate but only if it's not my hate?"

I was simply giving the context into how it became a target
