I've complained about this report and asked if it was written by an intern who's spent the morning on Reddit.

Oh that poor young woman. My heart goes out to her family.

Badgerthebodger · 14/12/2018 13:29

Oh my god that poor girl. Traces of her stepfathers semen in her knickers? And the stepfather has no idea how that happened Hmm and the mother is still with him. I wonder why Viktorija repeatedly ran away from home, could it be something to do with being abused? Just awful.

UpstartCrow · 14/12/2018 13:32

The report has been updated since I posted.

I don't understand the problem with the headline?

Thegirlinthefireplace · 14/12/2018 14:06

My mistake, I thought you were talking about the headline. Ignore my comment.

Babytalkobsession · 14/12/2018 14:21

What a horribly disturbing thing to read. That poor girl.

What has been changed in the article? Is your complaint regarding the graphic detail? It does seem particularly graphic and disrespectful to the victim. The focus of the report is the description of the brutality rather than the criminal.

Why has this happened? There was a recent murder of a 6 year old girl by a 16 year old. Also sexually motivated. What the fuck is happening?

WallyTheWasher · 14/12/2018 14:37

The reporting is unnecessarily gratuitous and dehumanising towards the victim I think. There isn’t any sympathy for her, it seems more about how gory can the journalist make the story.

WallyTheWasher · 14/12/2018 14:41

I’ve read it again. Was it really necessary to talk about how she was naked, for instance? It’s almost as if the writer is salacious.

Popchyk · 14/12/2018 14:51

The BBC is so unbalanced in its reporting.

The BBC didn't cover the particularly brutal rape and torture of a 10 year old girl in the case of David Challenor because it wasn't newsworthy apparently. Wouldn't cover the conviction for a week and then the only angle they took was the relationship of the perpetrator to a minor Green Party official.

And then you look at a piece like this.

Babytalkobsession · 14/12/2018 14:55

I agree Wally. It's disgusting writing. This is about an innocent 14 year old girl. It's so dehumanising.

starcrossedseahorse · 14/12/2018 16:09

Poor, poor girl. This is where readily available, violent, horrific porn is leading us.
My heart breaks for her.

starcrossedseahorse · 14/12/2018 16:11

And I agree that the writing is disgusting. She is accorded no respect. I can imagine a certain kind of man getting a thrill out of reading that.

UpstartCrow · 14/12/2018 16:14

The first draft was worse imo. It was brusque and showed zero empathy for the victim, and the way they described the detail of the injuries that she sustained really upset me.
I think it may have been used as a placemarker. It really wasn't acceptable, I wish I'd kept a copy.

BreconBeBuggered · 14/12/2018 16:21

You're telling us that's the revised version? My God. It's not a fucking thriller they're writing. It's the brutal ending of a child's life.

WallyTheWasher · 14/12/2018 16:35

Yes it does read like some sick porno fantasy doesn’t it seahorse? The BBC never like to judge the perpetrator do they? The way the actions are reported should be along the lines of-look at this disgraceful male but it’s more about “how sensationalist can we be off the back of some poor murdered child”. It’s very tabloid.

Really shocking and disturbing story and I’m sure porn has played a significant part in this boy’s violent behaviour.
Poor girl, RIP

Yeahnahyeah · 14/12/2018 17:38

Badgerthebodger microscopic traces often occur

Yeahnahyeah · 14/12/2018 17:40

Sorry, often transfer during washing... It is nice indicment, in itself, on the stepfather.

failingatlife · 14/12/2018 17:41

I have complained too. Absolutely no sensitivity to the fact a young girl has lost her life in brutal circumstances.
