This is my first post - be gentle. I complained about a transgender program on the BBC social called “Trans youth”
I am not based in Scotland so can’t make a film in response - anyone want to take this on? Also what do you think of their response:
BBC The Social prides itself on being a platform for a wide range of opinions and viewpoints. We feature young people in Scotland talking about the subjects they care about and what they are talking about with their friends.
We feature a number of contributors who are interested in discussing their own views on gender and also the wider discussions of gender politics in society.
The Social allows for those with dissenting views to make these known in the comments section, thereby allowing for a diversity of opinions. There is also an open door to commissioning pieces if someone based in Scotland wished to create a piece offering an alternative viewpoint.
The video “Trans Youth” addresses a subject which Kate has personal experience of and talks of “puberty blockers” as a pause to allow time for the child to complete puberty and evaluate their options when they are over 16 rather than a “simple stop”.
Here are some sources which talk about gender being assigned before birth:

• This article discusses sexuality in brains being hard wires from birth:
“Sexual identity is rooted in every person’s biology before birth and springs from a variation in our individual genome.”
“Our findings may explain why we feel male or female, regardless of our actual anatomy,” Vilain said. “These discoveries lend credence to the idea that being transgender — feeling that one has been born into the body of the wrong sex — is a state of mind.
