Comments deleted for being transphobic/feminist on media websites?

Have you had any comments deleted / moderated for being "transphobic" / feminist on media websites?

Let's keep a record of what they're trying to suppress.

This was inspired by a Guardian article today which celebrated a young, previously violent transactivist, apparently having an epiphany that gender critical feminists should not be silenced.

The Guardian left comments open - but heavily moderated and (in a stroke of now boringly familiar irony), they're are silencing gender critical feminists in the comments.

The suppressed comment that inspired this thread was this from Hackmum (posted over here)

I've now been put on the Guardian's naughty step for a comment (not published) stating that the problem was not that trans women posed a danger to women and girls, but that abusive men would go to extreme lengths to gain access to victims, and that could include claiming to identify as trans. That's it. They are so fucking thick that they won't allow through a comment about the behaviour of abusive men because they think it breaks their moderation rules. Morons

Are you notified if a comment is rejected / deleted on the Guardian?

I wrote a very moderate one and it seems to have disappeared into the ether.

It is apparently ok to comment that on MN there's obsessive hatred though.

I'm in a 12 hour Twitter jail for not agreeing that JY (the one suing women and asking teenage girls whether 'they' should help 10 year old girls insert their tampon) is a you-know-what.

Must be careful not to misgender JY as mumsnet now seems to be deleting any mention of 'them'

everybodypuuuuulllll · 26/11/2018 17:09

The JY ones are really shocking, considering what this person has been doing, very publicly.

Babycentre is very strict

MrsScamander · 26/11/2018 17:19

And yet Twitter are deleting anyone who speaks the truth. Apparently we shouldn't reveal the identity of a dangerous paedophile so they can continue on with their sick fantasies and ruining women's lives.

Just wait until JY abuses a child in real life. I'm sure the good people at Twitter will want us to quickly forget that they helped this sicko cover up his crimes.

DrizzledWombat · 26/11/2018 17:19

Are you notified if a comment is rejected / deleted on the Guardian?

No. You can complain, and I recently got a comment reinstated (nothing to do with the trans nonsense) but you don't get a notification of deletion.

everybodypuuuuulllll · 26/11/2018 18:33

Have twitter bans been recorded on a MN thread / elsewhere or shall we add those too?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 26/11/2018 18:37

Being critical of the current biology deniers isn’t transphobic. It’s a bollocks, made up ‘crime’ that is in place to stop a handful of ninnies in the twitter sphere swooning melodramatically at the truth.

Bloody drama llamas.

hackmum · 26/11/2018 18:49

I can't post my deleted Guardian comment, unfortunately, because I didn't keep a record of it.

everybodypuuuuulllll · 26/11/2018 20:08

hackmum what did it say, roughly?

OP posts:
OldCrone · 26/11/2018 20:46

I didn't keep a record of my exact comments that were deleted, but this is roughly the content of the ones that disappeared. (Also posted this on the other thread).

I said that the term 'cis' is unnecessary, since transwomen and women are two different groups of people. The first time I posted this it got through the pre-moderation but was subsequently deleted. The second time the moderators zapped it.

Someone had been asked whether humans can change sex. Their reply was intersex blah blah intersex. I asked them whether a male (XY chromosomes, not intersex) could change sex to become female (XX chromosomes).

In response to someone who said that women objected to 'cis' because we were privileged, I asked whether they really thought that people born female were more privileged than people born male.

I can't see why they wouldn't post those last two comments.

hackmum · 26/11/2018 20:56

My deleted comment pointed out that abusers were willing to become doctors, teachers and priests to gain to victims, therefore it would hardly be surprising if they decided to claim to be trans for the same reason.

BlackeyedGruesome · 27/11/2018 19:26

It seems necessary to keep a record of your posts somewhere safe. Along with various screen shots.

BlackeyedGruesome · 27/11/2018 19:28

And police officers hackmum. There was a case recently.

Rednaxela · 27/11/2018 19:29

Ages ago I commented on a Kaitlyn Jenner puff piece "Is it just me or did the word woman just take on a new meaning?"

Deleted.

Rednaxela · 27/11/2018 19:29

Should add that was the Guardian.

Coyoacan · 28/11/2018 01:44

Did you see that a transwoman was suspended for misgendering? He referred to himself as a man. You couldn't make it up.

PurpleOva · 28/11/2018 08:58

The one I saw that was talking about themselves, was also talking about somebody else, who was the person who did the reporting.

It is an overreaction to suspend and ban accounts though, but I guess that is how Twitter works.

Most places would just moderate the offending posts wouldn't they?

Mentioning JY in initials isn't misgendering. I do think it would be prudent to monitor our language a little and use neutral pronouns or initials or names, as it removes the stick with which to beat us, and often is done beside the point.
