Posting in case this helps others with correcting press articles around sex and gender.

Just emailed the following in to the Telegraph:

Good afternoon

Thank you for your interesting article by Celia Walden questioning the extent of influence of the transgender lobby on children, particularly those with autism.
www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/10-years-ask-did-allow-trans-lobby-hijack-childhood/

May I draw your attention to a phrasing inaccuracy in your box-out detailing transgender issues?

The first paragraph states:
‘Transgender’ is the umbrella term for people who identify with a different gender from the one they were assigned at birth – often diagnosed as ‘gender dysphoria’.

Sex is in fact observed at birth, usually indicated by the infant's primary sexual characteristics. Gender is a subjective concept of masculinity or femininity, and while the jury is out on the extent to which it is a social construct or an extension of sex, or both, it is not the same as sex, which is a binary in mammals. Chromosomal abnormalities or unclear sex determination at birth occurs in very rare intersex conditions, and is not the same in any way as transgenderism. In intersex people, a gender has traditionally been 'assigned' to aid social integration.

I wonder if you might consider how you detail the facts surrounding sex, gender, sex and gender observation and associated topics in the future.

Thank you
