the scene in Eastenders with Stacy and Martin? Bit too close to home for me atm, been thinking about posting this for a while but struggle to articulate my thoughts. Been reading here for a while now and have had my eyes opened wide to misogyny and now I'm struggling not to see it everywhere around me. I'm actually not coping with it very well, it's affecting the way I feel about people I love, is anyone else feeling the same?

Completely. I have a book that I thoght was just a bit old fashioned, but I find it hard to read now for the blatant misogyny.

I've become accustomed to it OP but I well remember the awful shock when it all comes together and you see it properly for the first time.

Here. Flowers Cake Gin. Take your time to process it and be kind to yourself.

I know exactly what you mean. The more you realise, the more you see it in others.
The scene in tonight's Eastenders (and that whole storyline) have been a particularly difficult watch. Good that it's getting highlighted though.
BrewCake for you (and I'll join you!)

What happened?

Hidingtonothing · 20/11/2018 22:32

Thank you all, it's not an easy adjustment once you see it is it? TheRealHousewife, it was connected to the Ruby storyline but Stacy was telling Martin what it's actually like to be a woman and deal with male behaviour and attitudes, and her realising that, as she put it, 'the monsters are on home turf'. I guess it was Stacy seeing misogyny at work and having the same lightbulb moment we're talking about.

Im lost ad I dont watch but wondered what happened

Judder · 20/11/2018 22:58

Once you see it you can't unsee it. But everyone joins in the fiction that it isn't happening.

Fallingirl · 21/11/2018 00:16

Hiding thenext ineviateble step is that you can’t not point it out whenyou see it. Before you know it, you will join the ranks of us Feminist Killjoys. Best to embrace it with a passion Grin

Hidingtonothing · 21/11/2018 00:22

I'm already doing it Fallin Blush am just waiting for the first 'lost your sense of humour?' comment now and I will be fully initiated Grin

I'm at that age I think, you know when you've finally had enough of the bullshit? And I'm ok with that, what I'm struggling with is noticing things about my loved ones I didn't see before and how to marry that with the fact that I love them and want them in my life.
