Confused about self identifying as disabled.

I'm just trying to get my head around this.

Does identity override reality? Is this woman physically disabled, or not? Does it matter, as long as she says so?

Its the PC wording in case someone is offended that's confusing you OP. I understand why, as a lot of self labelling and fear of mislabelling occurs. But yes, she is disabled and calls herself such. Some people don't appreciate the label and 'identify' with another terminology.

I appreciate the clarification. I think I might understand it now - although the issue is more complicated than I first realised.
