Transgender Dissenters and the resistance to legal coercion

There's a cracking article from the USA about the coalition of Transgender Dissenters (that's me!)

Who are the dissenters?

The left-wing feminist — of the “Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists” variety — now finds herself shoulder to shoulder with the social conservative, who is bedfellows with the dissenting transsexual, the reasonable LGBT advocate, the concerned politician, the baffled doctor, the worried parent, and the formerly gender-confused teen

There's everything in there from Karen White to the Girls Guides; the polls, the silencing of dissenters, Jonny Best, Janice Turner, the Stonewall petition (in full), MPs and David Davies MP

Concluding:
Such courage is to be commended not least because, if unchallenged, trans orthodoxy will become legal coercion. In some cases, it already has

A very nice summary of the resistance movement from journalist Madeleine Kearns Flowers together with some new terms that I will definitely use - legal coercion and transgender dissenter.

Thats a really good piece.

It's a good article indeed

That's a great summary of what has happened and the dangers of what's happening.

The national review... makes me cringe as I have many memories of reading it when visiting my (conservative) parents and my eyes glazing over at the extent of the 1950's apologia therein...

Yet here we are, I guess... sigh

I am worried about the coercion element. Why are a transwoman’s rights more important than mine? Especially if ‘they’ wish to come into my safe space. They’re already in my heard with their wierd politico doublethink.

Yes, this is an interesting piece., and yes, there are transsexual women who are against the proposed changes. Changes that have not been spelled out at all in terms of time scale, supporting evidence etc. The assumption is made that it could all be done in 3 weeks. No-one in government has said that. They've not said anything about the details. It may not happen, or may not happen in the form that people are agitating about. EG what if it was a 12 month wait? Two years?

We also constantly see an assertion that male bodied "transgender girls "would be expectedto shower with girls. Again, no-one has claimed that. Go to camp as a "girl guide", sleep in the same building...yes, that is allowed, they say. But details of actual bed arrangements and showers has not been stated.

Personally, as a parent, a teacher, and a transsexual woman, I'd want some questions answered before I'd be happy to send my daughter. But... we are seeing some unsubstantiated claims here.

In case it hasn't been posted already, the same writer, Madeleine Kearns, has another excellent article related to the one cited here called "TERF Wars" in the same magazine's new issue, dated December 3:

www.nationalreview.com/magazine/2018/12/03/terf-wars/

Funny thing is, back in the 70s & 80s, The National Review, a conservative magazine started in the 1950s by William F. Buckley, used to be incredibly hostile to feminism. Don't know when it changed, but today NR sure gets how transgenderism is a threat to women's rights, which is rare amongst the MSM in the US as most of the press parrots the TRA's spiel. The fact that a conservative US mag is publicizing the feminist GC view about transgenderism illustrates that this issue is leading to strange alliances here in the US too.

Kearns, from Scotland, strikes me as a bright young journalist who'll be going far. As I imagine most on MN know, she's also written good articles on trans issues for the Spectator.uk. Earlier this autumn she held her own while being treated quite rudely by India 'Penetrator' Willoughby in a Speccie podcast about teaching transgender ideology to children in schools:
