Men in gender neutral toilets

I don’t have a problem with gender neutral toilets at all. But twice recently I have been at gigs where the toilets are gender neutral only and I’ve opened a door to find a man mid wee who hasn’t locked the door. Is this a creepy bastard thing or do men not think to lock the doors? They are full floor to ceiling doors so I couldn’t tell if occupied or not if the door was unlocked.

Mixed sex toilets are a terrible idea. Especially at a gig full of rowdy drunks.

Professor Clara Greed makes the same point in hr speech (linked previously) about some inadequate mixed sex toilets at a students' union building... definitely terrible idea when students drunk on a Saturday night etc

of course men should make a point of locking the toilets when in use, but at a gig I can think of worse things that could happen than opening the door of a portaloo and finding a man mid-pee

I've posted this elsewhere on here in the past. I am fairly relaxed about this kind of thing in general and wouldn't be particularly bothered by opening the door on a man pissing BUT once when I was a student and the toilets were gender neutral (Oxford college that hadn't bothered to change the toilets when they admitted women) I accidentally walked in on a man having a piss and HE was so upset he followed me to my room and wrote 'dyke' all over my door.

I really don't see why we should have to deal with this kind of thing. Just leave our fucking single sex toilets alone Angry

Women posting that they don't have a problem with finding a man openly pissing in a mixed-sex toilet are missing a bit of a point. Many other women do have a problem with this and some men will do it deliberately to upset women and/or because they get off on it.

Mixed-sex toilets offer men the opportunity to offend women.

My DH opposes GN toilets. He thinks it’s just wrong.

He’s also frequently complains how some men have no standards of hygiene. Pissing all over the place and not washing their hands, then going out of the loo and holding their child’s hand and eating food.

traceyracer · 19/11/2018 15:24

yeah men are pigs aren't they

Bowlofbabelfish · 19/11/2018 15:48

He walked in and a woman was in there. He felt really uncomfortable and walked out.

No decent man wants mixed sex loos. DH also horrified by the idea.
The only people who want mixed sex loos are those who want to use them as validation booths, those who want to use them to abuse women and those who want to show their woke credentials.

The vast majority of women AND men don’t want mixed sex loos.

This is such a terrible idea. I’m getting far too old to go to gigs and clubs now, but I remember the ladies was often a refuge; a place to escape a creepy bloke, somewhere to have a chat or sometimes somewhere to let off steam/have a booze-fuelled cry. All of which are impossible with gender neutral toilets.
