FPFW report back to supporters: history, achievements, where the money went and future plans

I like to see an organisation that holds itself to account.

Fairplay for Women have done just that, with a report on their public awareness campaign.

fairplayforwomen.com/gra/

It was an ambitious project. It started from scratch with no money and no public profile. But the money was found - women dug deep and raised enough for a professional set of resources, and put their trust in eloquent and knowledgeable spokeswomen.

To read the report is to marvel at what has been achieved.

It was a very professionally organised and communicated campaign.

Who would have thought women could produce such a thing.

arranfan · 13/11/2018 13:10

Well Done, FPFW!

I'd like to think there are plans afoot for maintaining momentum and keeping all of the fabulous women they engaged involved. There were so many people for whom this was their first time participating in such campaigns alongside many returners and seasoned campaigners.

KatVonGulag · 13/11/2018 13:11

They are incredible.
I'm going to set up a monthly standing order to them.

They were so professional. Raised the profile so much.

GatheringHerBrows · 13/11/2018 13:26

I read that too, and I was really impressed. I made a one off donation, but I'm planning to set up a monthly one the next time I'm at a proper computer.

Ijustwannadance · 13/11/2018 13:36

The TRA truely find it unbelievable that women could actually pull this off.
Or that so many women would donate time and money to make is possible.

They have zero understanding of how strong women are.

TorchesTorches · 13/11/2018 14:26

Thank you for sharing this. I did a one off donation before and will now be setting up a regular payment.

The future campaign around self i/d is one that I am very much looking forward to.

It's time to put the spotlight on the areas where self i/d is in place already, according to FPFW: starting with Violence against Women services, prisons, sport etc.

There is a huge amount of work to be done if we are to regain the rights that have already been eroded. I suspect that this forum will continue to be a key place to share information and maintain the momentum while we wait for the outcome of the consultation (in Spring 2019?)

I wonder if the local groups that came together for the leaflet blitz are still active? I don't do Facebook, so I can't view up to date information.

Those of us who were out doing the business are still active and this is genuinely just the beginning. I shall be all hopeful and spy a renaissance of women's rights activism on the horizon Smile Lots more to do!

LangCleg · 13/11/2018 15:42

I was in no doubt that my money would be spent wisely and productively - and it was!

Very happy to see de facto self-ID is now in the crosshairs and will happy to contribute again.

Thanks for everything, FPFW.

LikeDust · 13/11/2018 15:49

Well done FPFW.

So much fantastic work.

Happy to donate.

loveyouradvice · 13/11/2018 15:56

I cannot tell you how proud I feel - and these have been the BEST donations I ever made.

FPFW has been amazing - and actually it brings tears to my eyes thinking of all they achieved and how they brought us together.

I still have a few of their postcards and hand them out, while wearing my Man Friday badge proudly to social occasions.

They are right - the work is not over - BUT WOW what an amazing start.

Thank you FPFW - and thank you all you amazing women on these boards.

Callmejudith · 13/11/2018 16:26

Reading that brought tears to my eyes. Amazing work!

GatheringHerBrows · 13/11/2018 20:21

I don't think FPFW have any postcards / other merchandise at the moment, do they? I'd love to buy some, and to spread the word a bit while wearing / using it.

Velella · 13/11/2018 20:31

At this time of year I'd normally donate to Children in Need. This year I'm donating direct to FPFW.

Mumfun · 13/11/2018 20:37

Just extraordinary how much was done on that fundraising amount! Well done FPFW. So professional in every way in a good sense! I am in awe.

Janie143 · 14/11/2018 06:12

Best £££ Ive ever spent.Thank you so much FPFW. A perfect example of how the the workplace generally undervalues women's capabilities by favouring men in leadership roles. All beacuae of female biology.

Needmoresleep · 14/11/2018 16:08

This will only have been achieved because some people have donated lots of skills and time.

So a special thank you to them.

catkind · 14/11/2018 16:27

20,000 submissions to the consultation via their form? That's phenomenal. Specially given that (I think) many of us who feel strongly have written out our own.

Cautiously optimistic that if the number of TRA allies who fill in lengthy complicated forms reflects the number who dig in their pockets for crowdfunders... FPFW and friends may just have handed the government a serious headache and eye opener.

arranfan · 14/11/2018 17:01

In the published version of Heather Brunskell-Evans FiLiA speech, it was rather lovely to see her list off the women and women's organisations who have been making a difference:

OlennasWimple · 14/11/2018 22:43

I love that they have been so open and honest about what they have done and spent

Well done Dr Nic and everyone else involved!

FadingMint · 15/11/2018 00:52

A very encouraging and heartwarming page to read. Brilliant! Thanks, OP!
