Dr Margaret McCartney told to behave [Edited by MNHQ at OP's request]

A commercial blood test company decided to take on Margaret McCartney and told her to behave.
Great way to tout for business. Not sure how new the company is but they joined twitter on 26/10/18 and are already at the centre of a tweet storm!

I think the fishy Medlab is not the same Medlab as the one in Derby which has been going since the 1950s.

Using the same name as a long standing company can have implications. Perhaps that is why the fishy website is down.
"Duff lawyer" needs to read up a bit really. Tsk. Tsk.

Very familiar rhetoric though from fishy Medlab, and such a familiar technique, in trying to silence a woman who knows her subject well.

Sorry, cross posted with OldCrone
The one man company officer ( Greg Gormley) also ran another company, same business address.

Not into blood testing but housing. All in the public domain may I add.

This is all very suspect.

I can't believe the tone, trekking Dr McCartney to "behave", and feet and over again too.

I hope Ben Goldacre gets on this. After all he was the one who bought a PhD for his (deceased) cat from the same correspondence "college" Gillian McKeith obtained hers from. She tried to sue, if memory serves me, lost and had to remove the title "Dr" from all the packaging for her range of merchandise.

Sounds like Ben could usefully do some digging here - are there in fact two entirely different companies with the same name?

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 03/11/2018 08:12

Ben seems to be on it already.

FermatsTheorem · 03/11/2018 08:14

Sorry - wasn't clear. Yes, Ben's already on top of the appalling tweets, I was wondering whether he'd spotted the peculiar existence of what seems to be two separate companies with the same name.

gilchrist168 · 03/11/2018 09:12

I'm sure the "real" unrelated company will have spotted it.

It is interesting that they’ve targeted McCartney. Looks like they want to shut her up through intimidation and threats of legal action.

Slight digression regarding the thread but I was thinking it seems a relatively new thing that some people are telling women to behave. Abuse and trolling is common enough on twitter but orders to behave are a new level, especially when coming from supposedly professional people.

No need to revisit the many examples from a certain Dr.

Then there was another A&E Dr who had his arse whipped who told a woman she needed "to learn respect" and her mother should wash her mouth out with soap.

Now there is this person, tweeting on behalf of their company, not only telling a respected Dr to behave but telling another woman to "stop her nonsense". Yep. and when I called them on it again and again they told me to “stop your nonsense.”

Where is this coming from? Anyone have more examples - maybe worthy of a reference thread?

Sorry, I can't post images as I am up to my limit.
