Hospital appointment

Some of you may have read my thread about my appointment with an physiotherapist for incontinence issues that turned out to be a group session! Horrifying though it was, one positive did come out of it. A diagram popped up on the screen and was described as 'the female reproductive organs'. There wasn't a lady cock in sight.

All we need to do now is push for 'men's health groups' to be set up in same way. The NHS seems to think that women benefit from discussing their most personal medical issues in a group setting so I am looking forward to seeing groups where men get to discuss and be educated about prostate issues and erectile dysfunction with each other. I'm sure that they will be very popular Hmm

It was in the news a few weeks ago that they are trialing these group sessions for many conditions, Diabetes, back pain etc, so men will be included. It means the patient gets a much longer time with a professional, plus the staff are not repeating the same info over and over again.

It personally wouldn’t bother me, but understand why it might bother some. Do you have to go to more? Could you ask for personal sessions?

Will men be expected to discuss their genitals in a group setting? It was the subject and the lack of information that upset me. Discussing a twisted ankle with others is fine but the sentence 'so, does anyone have a posterior prolapse?' Should never be used!

So as not drip feeding, my medical records and counselling notes are being trawled through by the world and his wife because of a historic child abuse case. I'm probably more sensitive to issues surrounding medical dignity at the moment than I usually would be.

Gosh I don’t realise they were asking such personal questions! That’s dreadful. I presumed it would be an information type session.

I don’t blame you for feeling annoyed, I would be too.

Women are always bottom of the heap, aren't they?
